R/V Nordic research icebreaker

The R/V Nordic is the first of two Nordic-class research icebreakers. The Nordic class was designed to replace the 45+ year old icebreaker R/V Polaris. Construction started in 2021. The Nordic was commissioned in 2025, 7 months before her sister, the Arctic. The ships were vital for several other Arcadian arctic and antarctic research missions, such as the construction and operation of both Martov station and the Large Antarctic Radio Telescope (LARAT), as well as the Mobile Arctic Research Station 2 (MARS 2) program, which developed a pair of container sized portable research stations, that were frequently deployed by the Nordic and her sister.


Starting the engines:
Activate the "Propulsion" breaker on the bridge, turn on both of the "Engine" keys and use the arrow buttons to get to your desired throttle. Now you have to wait for the engine RPM to go above 120 and increase the clutch power from the Helm seat.
