Thank you, @SoftwareSimian!

@SoftwareSimian Thank You, gonna give it a try.

For those who requested a Transport Fever 2 version of this map, it's now available:

I'm still playing with my TPF1 game until more of the bugs of TPF2 are repaired and fixed. Some of the games I were working on CTD without reason, without any mods activated.... :`-(
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 26.12.2019 klo 7.19
This map will come to TpF2 sometime soon-ish, I can't promise an exact date yet. Initially I'll have to release it as a 2:1 map with the end of the Fraser Valley cut off, until UG fixes their map editor system.
SpecialistZer0 25.12.2019 klo 19.30
@jurgen.prosec you are correct about the rotation of 90 degrees as the game renders the maps 1:2 / 1:3 / 1:4 / 1:5 in a vertical aspect, if only they had offered a method of creating 2:1/ 3:1/ etc...
@SoftwareSimian If you do manage to get this and other maps to work, I too would be eternally grateful, this was my fave TpF1 map.
Yogi the Kodiak Bear 15.12.2019 klo 11.36
From what I have been able to determine, as well as Spearin's comments on the Discussion, the map needs to be rotated 90 degrees, though I am unsure with the new setup if there is a North or South, East or West configuration. I know you'll be able to figure it all out, @SoftwareSimian, I have faith in you :-)
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 15.12.2019 klo 10.44
I'm working on it, but UG has really messed up the mapmaking process, they've severely limited the dimensions allowed for maps and have made it more difficult than it should be to directly convert (my) TpF1 maps to TpF2. I will redo it eventually.

@SoftwareSimian, I love this map as well, and am wondering if you will be able to import onto TPF2.... no pressure over Christmas, of course! lol
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 29.11.2019 klo 13.42
I of course don't know if or how TpF2 maps differ from TpF1, will be another ~2 weeks until the new game is released. But I expect they'll be very similar for maps; if so I should be able to port all my maps over to TpF2 soon after release.
fatfluffycat 29.11.2019 klo 13.31
Will you make a TpF2 version? I love this map!
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 23.3.2019 klo 20.16
No, unfortunately not. Terraforming tools don't work below the waterline.
danthetransitfan 23.3.2019 klo 15.55
But isnt there a way to edit the water terrain in-game?
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 23.3.2019 klo 14.12
@jhowelaw: some of those are deliberate (marshy area that's not readily buildable), but I've also seen a couple that appear where they shouldn't. The proper fix would be to fix the heightmap in Photoshop, but finding the few random pixels one shade too dark is pretty hard (without clobbering areas that are supposed to be water, that is).
You could of course play with the minimum value of range = {75, 1000} in map.lua at the risk of having too-high shorelines and trouble placing docks.
danthetransitfan 23.3.2019 klo 14.07
I also see a lot of holes below sea level across the map and its impossible to build when they are blocking the way. Do you know how we can edit the water terrain so I could fill up these holes?
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 21.3.2019 klo 12.24
Just place industries yourself wherever you think is most appropriate.
You can enable the industry button if it isn't already, either by editing the config file:

\Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever\res\config\base_config.lua
game.config.industryButton = true

Or you can use a mod to do it, like Industry Tycoon . Most industry mods, like my Flexible Industries also enable it automatically.

As an aside, on my own playthrough of this map I've concentrated on population transport only and ignored cargo. I'm at about 110k population in 2010, and be forewarned: populations that high will crush your system.
danthetransitfan 21.3.2019 klo 12.16
I also realized that there arent any industries in this map, how do you add them?
danthetransitfan 21.3.2019 klo 11.40
ok got it thanks the thing I was doing wrong was the game was still running :steamhappy:
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 21.3.2019 klo 10.06
@jhowelaw: something is clobbering your settings file then. It's not so much that you get the warning and then the setting is reset, it's you're getting the warning because experimentalMapSizes is false.

Just to be clear you're editing the right file, it should be
\Steam\userdata\<steamid>\446800\local\settings.lua
and you should be certain to edit it while Transport Fever is not running (otherwise it will certainly be clobbered when you exit the game).
danthetransitfan 20.3.2019 klo 22.29
I keep trying to set experimentalMapSizes to true but every time I try to load up this map it will say "Heightmap too large, Cannot load pixels exceeding 16M" and the experimentalMapSizes goes back to false. How do you fix this?
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 6.7.2018 klo 9.36
Again, are you trying to electrify the station with the track upgrade tool, or from the upgrade menu of the station? If you build a new station/depot do you have the option to build it electrified?

You really should post this as a question in the general (or support) Discussions section, since it's nothing to do with the map you're using.
ghm67 6.7.2018 klo 8.58
1910's, can use electric track but cannot electrify stations or depots.
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 5.7.2018 klo 10.22
@ghm67 that wouldn't have anything to do with this (or any) map, there must be something else happening. Are you able to upgrade the a station with "Catenary=yes" ? Are you able to electrify a station with the track-upgrade tool? What year is your game?
ghm67 5.7.2018 klo 8.09
having problems with electrification on this map. can only electrify track but not stations or depots???
BCP Labs(YT) 29.4.2018 klo 16.01
i think i can see my house from here :steamhappy:
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 11.3.2018 klo 9.06
Do you have experimentalMapSizes=true in settings.lua
(located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<user ID>\446800\local\settings.lua or equivalent)
Ray 10.3.2018 klo 18.44
I can't load the map into a free game. It starts loading and then crashes mid way through
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 2.9.2017 klo 3.22
No industries so that you can place the industries wherever you like. If you prefer to have the game generate random industries then comment out the two industries specified in map.lua
SupaFly 1.9.2017 klo 17.00
i love this map but why are there no industries, would awesome to have those too then this map would be flawless! :sunglassesDoge:
Spearin 30.7.2017 klo 8.19
Awesome! I've added it to the Canada Collection :)

Any plans for more maps? I wish I had the time... but I'd like to do the Prairies next.
Ninjapumkin 25.7.2017 klo 22.03
Could you do from Rockies heading east to Alberta and Sask map? From the Rockies to the prairies style. You know where to place all the resources. 😊
SoftwareSimian  [tekijä] 22.7.2017 klo 7.29
The map is set to start 1886-Apr-06 as the incorporation date of the City Vancouver. If you want to start in 1850 you can edit map.lua (Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\446800\973832463\res\maps\Greater Vancouver 8K-NoIND\map.lua) and either change the "startDate" line, or comment it out (by adding "--" (two hyphens) at the beginning of the line.
Alexccl 22.7.2017 klo 2.55
The map will only start at 1886. is there any way to fix it?
pintobeanz114 15.7.2017 klo 21.00
Yay! Another Canadian map! This will be fun.
Yogi the Kodiak Bear 13.7.2017 klo 10.15
I live in the Lower Mainland, and this is almost a perfect Map. I do wish the scale was 16K to put it more in scale (it is difficult to place a 1000 foot station on the Vancouver Waterfront, for example); however, I also wouldn't want my game to crash, especially in the later stages. Thank you for doing this.
Rabid Canuck 12.7.2017 klo 16.02
This would be amazing if you also added Vancouver Island
BCBIGTOKER 12.7.2017 klo 9.39
Looks great, nice touch getting most of the islands in the Fraser River. I do hope Sea Island is big enough for an Airport. Thanks for the hard work.
Takao 12.7.2017 klo 4.19
awwww yeah~~
GreenH 11.7.2017 klo 23.04
great work

now we need some canadian grain goverment hopper cars (canada red an alberta blue) maybe some car double stocks and some center beam cars :-)
