Greater Vancouver Huge 2:1 v2.0.0

描述
Greater Vancouver map, from Horseshoe Bay to Abbotsford.

"Huge" preset, 2:1 aspect ratio, and a ridiculous number of trees on the North Shore mountains means this map uses 13GB of RAM just loading it in 1850.

I may revisit it later with better-placed industries and initial city street layout.

This map is also available in a 3:1 Megalomaniac, and Transport Fever 1 version.

By request, 3:1 Megalomaniac version is now here:

Very large would be too small, so Megalomaniac would the better option I think to capture the feel of the original map.

There is something buggy in the map editor -- if I import the 3:1 heightmap into a 3:1 Huge map I get the null squares in the screenshots below, but it works normally in 3:1 VeryLarge (one size smaller) and 3:1 Megalomaniac (one size bigger). Would you have a preference between VeryLarge and Megalomaniac?

Tried importing again, same problem in same place, I can't explain it:

I will have to investigate further at a later time.

An embarrassingly-simple solution, thank you. I have rewritten the heightmap to 3:1 with added water, my first attempt at it went slightly weird (two large blocks of terrain showing up null, something weird in the map generator). I will try again tomorrow. I'm not sure if I have the inspiration to spend another 6 hours decorating the map with trees as I did this one...

Would it be possible when using a 1:3 map, to use the 1:2.66 heightmap and by placing it on the east side of the map, you could make the west blank unused area water? That way the aspect ratio of the actual map is still 1:2.66 and to scale.

It's not the size (the heightmap will scale to Tiny or Large or Megalomaniac) but the aspect ratio that's the limiting factor.

Gizbit's map is Huge 1:4 10x40km, so that's 12km squished into into just 10, with Huge 1:3 you have 11.5km to work with so the squish isn't so extreme. Although now I guess it would also have to be stretched west to east (32.1km to 34.5km)? I would hate to lose any destinations especially Horseshoe Bay as it was in a interesting location and a challenge to get to. Not sure which one would be the best tbh.

Megalomaniac 1:3 might be another option? 13.5km with a 1:2.66 ratio goes to 35.91km so you're left with 4km missing.

The original heightmap data I created for TpF1 has a ratio of 1:2.66
It would be possible to crop it to 1:3 while retaining most features, but you lose either Horseshoe Bay (and some North Shore mountains), or Roberts Bank and White Rock.
I guess the third option is just to squish it to fit at the expense of distorting the geography somewhat (11% north-south compression).
Which option would be best, in your opinion?
