What format did you use for the music? When I tried replacing geoscape music tracks years ago, it'd make my game crash when they'd play.

There is also the ambient music that plays during missions in XCOM. They are longer and loop well (still not as good as the combat music but less noticeable).

@Made in-Human - XCOM combat tracks are only 1 - 2 minutes long, so I figured they would get boring very quickly when hearing them repeating constantly during every battle.

If you want to make something like this you should really include all sounds you can and shuffle them. Listening to the same sounds over and over again is not that hot. Include ground combat too where it fits.

"because I couldn't find anything appropriate" Just use the combat soundtracks from the xcom games, or the ambience ones before contact. Xenonauts ground combat ost is very bland imo.
