so about the weather... where is it at? because when i click force random weather. nothing happens. have to manually put the weather in. been playing on it for 3 real time days. nothing but sunshine
Is this intended as a rover-only sort of map? I've gone literally 20km in every direction from where I landed and I can't find any Cobalt.

The weather works (sandstorms = MUCHO power!) and the vistas look spectacular.

If I find Cobalt or a Mod conflict I'll update.
Is it just me or does it seem like random weather doesn't happen on this mod planet? I literally have to force a sandstorm for it to happen
Because the engine doesn't enjoy it
Why not real size?
Absolutely brilliant, with my Rocinante taking off from Schiaparelli at sunrise it just looks incredible. Navigating around using a real map is the best!

Ah, nvm, Steam is glitching out on me
The mod is buggy with some textures, but it seems pretty simple to solve.
I love how the planet looks blue like earth from a far distance lmao, good planet though
Yeah, the gravity is way too high. Should be around 0.38g.
Hate Bear 2019
I wanted to like this, but 0.9g? Come on, man. Thanks for the other link in the description though--I didn't catch that before.
I am finally getting familiar with this game - mods, blueprints, remote control ships, weapons, etc. I am a lifelong SciFi fan from the original Star Trek and onward. I love the Red Mars series by Kim Stanley Robinson. Mars has always been a favorite subject of mine. Why am I telling you this?

Setting = 120km, paste, and well, I can't explain how incredibly awesome it was to enter the atmosphere and fly on the planet Mars. I landed on the bottom of Valles Marineris and on the top of Olympus Mons. Zoom past Elysium Mons and cruise the "harbor" Isidis Planitia and Kasei Valles. Everywhere.

It was literally one of the funnest experiences ever. I don't want to sound like a goofball, but hopefully you understand. I felt like an 8 year old kid on Christmas morning. I just felt like I had to post a comment about how absolutely cool this planet is and how much fun I've had zooming around. Genuinely, truly, awesome.

Now ... to teach myself how to build a mega Mars base!

Thanks so much.
Hey mate. Why is Mars's atmosphere blue?
@erOn: Weird. When I tested it, the changes took effect immediately after reloading the game, I didn't have to spawn a new instance of the planet or anything like that. And you are using this version of the mod, right? Not the IRL Grav + Atmo one?
oh my! Did not work for me. Even with the updated mod :steamsad:
Xilthis  [作者] 2019 年 4 月 13 日 上午 2:21
@erOn:
Ah, good point, thanks for reminding me.
You don't need to change anything yourself, after thinking about it for a while,
I think this should be in the base mod.
Vanilla mars has wind too, and this version of the real mars mod is more about cosmetics than changed gameplay.
The IRL grav + atmo version will not have wind,
since substantial wind power with such a low atmospheric density feels unrealistic,
but I have added stock wind speed to this cosmetic version.
It should take effect once you have updated the mod.
AWESOME MOD, DUDE :O

Hey... Would you mind explaining to me how I can "activate" the wind on the planet? I have a Dedicated Server, and, the players are questioning if there was that possibility (so they could use the wind turbines).

Ty :D
The Red Moustache 2018
@Xilthis, i got you, cheers :D
@Big Man Red: I am using the regular textures. The shading is achieved by repurposing the black resource marker shapes to add a subtle tint to the surface, but otherwise they are the stock textures.
The Red Moustache 2018
its may probably be a mod effecting it idk tho.
The Red Moustache 2018
@Xilthis,

ive spawned it in and it comes up with normal textures of mars, any ideas?
!Master_Conquest!
AAh. be aware of those little gray men.

also know that they have laserblasters.

so dont try anything funny.:steamsalty:
CBFasi 2018 年 3 月 2 日 下午 2:25
yes its there. tis huge !
Is the biggest mountain (mount oylmpus) on this planet? it exists in real life on mars
theres platinum on this planet?
@DaVinci: Did you check with an ore detector, or by sight?

Subterranean ore distribution is almost identical to stock mars, but to make things a bit more challenging, I didn't add surface patch markers (except for ice, so you don't suffocate during early game near the equator).

So the ore should be there, it just isn't hinted at visually.
i used this mod to make a planet 100km size but it seems poor of minerals, why?
Kel 2017
Amazing ^-^
This is awesome. I had a great time yesterday playing on it with my cars!
Arcane Axiom 2017
Thanks! Keep being awesome!
@sean47933: Alright, new version is up. Enjoy!
@sean47933: It might sound obvious, but you also have to make sure you don't load the workshop version as well. The names in the .sbc file and Data subfolder are how the game distinguishes planets, and if you don't change them as well, both the loose file mod and the workshop mod want to define the same planet, and only one has any effect.

But I'll upload a new version with new, unique identifiers, so you just need to subscribe to the new mod, and place that like any other planet.
Arcane Axiom 2017
Yeah, I was able to get that far, but the changes didn't seem to apply to a new copy of the world. Possibly I have to unload/reload the mod into the world?
@sean47933: Yeah, sure. I'll put the link to the description once I have patched back to stable and uploaded it.

If you want to edit existing mods in the future, the <ID>.sbm files in %AppData%/SpaceEngineers/Mods are just archives containing the loose files of the mod. You can copy them, rename them to .zip, extract them somewhere, and edit and test them as if they were your own mod. To find the ID, you can look at the page URL of the mod page in the workshop.
Arcane Axiom 2017
> For gameplay reasons, surface gravity and atmosphere density are identical to vanilla mars.

The atmo density and 0.9G really bug me (I know, I know, looking for realism in Space Engineers). Could you do one of two things for me?
1. Upload another version with the realistic settings (0.01 atmo density and 0.38G, I believe), or
2. Tell me how to make those changes happen when I spawn in a new copy of the planet? You mentioned tweaking the sbc in an earlier comment, but I can't seem to make my changes stick.
[B.A.C.M] jason_goodrich2001 2017 年 3 月 7 日 下午 10:10
over sized that is reasonable size to make with voxel hands?
@jason_goodrich2001: I don't think I can, sorry. As I mentioned, the planets are created from a few textures. There are no voxels until you spawn the planet ingame, only then are they created from the textures. So I don't think it is possible to voxel-hand planet mods.

In theory, I could spawn the planet, voxel edit the placed planet, and then upload the save, but even then you'd not be able to make out much.
Ingame planets are about 50 times smaller than IRL mars even at max diameter. I just checked the area ingame to see if I can do anything, but the hills there are absolutely tiny. There might actually be some hint of the pyramid left though, but maybe it was just my imagination playing tricks on me.
[B.A.C.M] jason_goodrich2001 2017 年 3 月 6 日 下午 8:51
could you possibly add the face and pyramids with voxel hands please?
@Eagledude4: Hmm, good question. Creating the replacer itself isn't an issue, but it would most likely break scenarios. The terrain doesn't match stock, so scenario bases would end up in midair or underground. I don't know of any way to work around this without changing terrain, except editing the scenario itself and publishing it as a new start.
@jason_goodrich2001: No, sadly not. The game creates planets from a set of 6 heightmaps covering the entire planet. To cover such small features, I'd need maps with crazy resolution. Currently, the face is about 1/4th of a single pixel, and the pyramid about 1/400th, so you won't be able to see them ingame.
Can you make a replacement version?
[B.A.C.M] jason_goodrich2001 2017 年 2 月 26 日 下午 6:34
finnaly a reason to go to mars! does it have the face and pyramids?
Ok, I'll check the log file in a bit. See if there's any issues
@entspeak: I just gave it a shot, very nice.
@SCP Gaming: I didn't have this issue yet, so I don't have a fix for you, sadly.
Are there any errors in the log file? It should be in:
C:\Users\{Your Username}\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\SpaceEngineers.log
Hey Xilthis, I included this in my new world "Mercury to Ceres." https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=867277588
None of this damn planets work. Whenever I spawn any planet or asteroid in and try to land on them, my game freezes. Why is nobody else having this issue????
thx man
@Hagal: You can find ore both in surface rocks and below ground. To make things a bit more challenging, only ice is marked with dark patches, but ore isn't. It isn't very deep though, you should be fine even with only a small grid ore detector.
am i just stupid or is there ores scattered around xd
