You should always remove potentially overlapping mods regardless of how little they may seem to interact.
Mainly because Starbound's game engine is about three steps away from incineration, and overlaps is a lit match.
Don't be a fool, remove Xbawks and get this bitch if you truly require it.
Nice! Thanks for sharing
Do you still have the 340 version? I recently hit 100 races but am looking to add more.
If you have mods that require xbawks, you have two options. Go into the files in them and edit where the mod depends on another. Take it out. The other option comes with no guarantees, but it seems others get it working by installing both. If you do that, install mine after xbawks in load order so my interface files get used instead. It is just the graphics and an array that specifies more slots. It really can't do anything to your characters, since it is ONLY called when you create new ones.
In that case, you have to remove every instance of anything added by the mod to the world. Like if it adds a table, you would have to enter your world, remove every instance of the table that mod added, then save and exit. Only then should you remove the mod that adds something. For something that adds things generated to worlds, like dungeons and the like... I am not entirely sure you can delete those mods once installed.
TL;DR: any mod that only changes GUIs or function and doesn't ADD ITEMS or OBJECTS to a saved game, can be deleted and replaced at will. Erase items added by mods in a save game before deleting or replacing those mods.
