That's is the common problem for ships with multiple drives. As far as I remember it's the hud problem. Reselect your ship to reload the hud every time this happens. I remember I avoided that somehow. Not sure how, though.

Okay, after several days of play, my ships hyperdrive functions have been replaced by a fling beacon. I have 2 fling becaon buttons on my action bar.
However, the Hyperdrive button returns after I leave the proximity of the fling beacon, so it's usuable. Fling beacons are better than Hyperdrives, when they're available anyway.

I first researched hyperdrive, then later on, researched slipstream, and built myself a slipstream generator ship. Sometimes it's immediate, sometimes it takes a while, but my slipstream generator ship always, eventually, just turns into a useless ship with a hyperdrive. It still shows the slipstream generator subsystem, but I only have a hyperdrive button.

I'm glad you found the problem. All incompabilities will be written in disscusion. The mod is called fleet calc, isn't it?

Worked out the problem with my mod and the starting ships. What is was is an incompatibility with the Fleet Strength Calculations mod. This one and that one enabled at the same time is no bueno.

It was a cold and rainy day. A man came back home wet and ill to complete the work up to the end. He looked so tired that every person who comes near him would fall asleep. That was me that day. So yeah I always mistake Geralds for Heralds.

Possible workaround is to give FTL researchers bonus starting money and some stored labor for their 'starter' ships, or do nothing and tell players that use it to pick a government that doesnt get much in the way of ships to start with.

That's an interesting problem. I don't think, I can fix it right now, because of the way how hooks are made in this game.

Specifically, when I load this mod, the ship categories and default ship designs fail to load into game for some reason, and whatever starter ship (and support) you'd start with doesnt spawn. It is possibly because whatever ship designs get loaded are tied to your FTL choice.

Strange, the mod does nothing to remove starting ships. It doesn't check or change any of designs, even custom ones.

Needs default ship designs assigned to it, otherwise playing with this mod in single-player means you'll lose any starting ships!

How about making a vessel that can go hyperspace or get flung and at the same time create slipstreams and use jumpdrives? Fair enough :D
