Can you be more specific, are you talking about the brush you use to start the fossil game or the brush used during the fossil game to clear away dirt? I just started a minigame with a Master Fossil Brush and used the minigame's brush to clear away dirt. I also used each of the other tools to clear away the rock and then once again used the brush to complete the minigame. Didn't have any issues.
For example, sometimes I end with 5+ tools left, sometimes I use every single one of 'em, and far too often I lose simply because I was BARELY even given enough tools to even break the number of blocks the fossil is in size ffs...

@RagnaWolf The Guardian: There's a formula to generate the tool counts that I modified to increase that amount. It's still randomized somewhat.
@koolieo1: I've only tested it in single-player.
