I was able to sort my way around it, just cheated in pixels and a fake license and upgraded an extra level. felt cheap but idrc at this point, i wasnt gonna lose all that progress. thank you so much for such a quick answer, I'm pleasantly surprised by how fast it was.

Use the /gravity command to turn off gravity so you don't fall, then use /warp to move around in the space outside your ship to collect your things. It will probably take a while if you have a lot of stuff.

If you upgraded to the max tier, there is no way to get your stuff without cheating. If you didn't upgrade to the max tier, you can reinstall the mod and upgrade your ship again to turn it back into a Hylotl ship which will allow you to access your stuff.

there hasnt been a comment here in 3 years but idk how else to get any kind of help. For whatever reason I deleted this mod and changed the novakid ship to human, and without realizing i upgraded my ship and now all my ♥♥♥♥ is floating in space. I wouldnt mind getting my hylotl ship back but idrc as long as i can get all my items and furniture back. thank you to whoever answers me.

If you don't remove them, the ship will still change but the walls will remain floating in space outside the borders of your new ship.

do I need to remove the walls on the Novakid spaceship for it to change once I upgrade it?

Place them on a planet. Go to that planet with your new character and pick up the items.

You don't both need the mod to play together. Just make sure when you upgrade your ships, go into single player to do it. You can go back to multiplayer when the upgrade is done.

Say me and a friend are playing this together through Steam, do i have to get this mod if he does? Id like to keep my ship as the train for the Novakid. But i still want to play with my friend.
So i gues what im asking is, if im playing with a friend through Steam, do i have to get this mod too?

Make a new character and upgrade to the max tier. Rename the .shipworld files in /starbound/storage/player/ to transfer it to your older character.

No, just the first time on a character that isn't already using a Hylotl ship.

If you start a new character, you don't even have to empty the ship the first time.

Making something like this for custom races would require editing the custom race mod itself which isn't something that I'm okay with distributing.

This mod is awesome, the Hylotl ship is my favorite base game ship. Just out of curiosity are there any plans to make Untrained versions for mods like the Avali?

Unpack it and find the file that controls which ships go to each race and copy the Hylotl values to Novakids.

Keep in mind that upgrading while playing multiplayer doesn't work.

Also, having the mod in your /mods/ folder while also being subscribed can confuse the game. If you have it installed in the mods folder, unsubscribe from the mod to avoid issues.

Check to see if there is a file called "contents.pak" in the folder you copied.
Start a new character in single player to test, check the box to skip the intro, under the difficulty selection. Your ship should start as the Novakid one, but become the Hylotl one when you talk to S.A.I.L.

I unsubscribed because it didn't seem to work for me. I don't know what caused this. I just copy/pasted it in the mods folder. I guess I'll have to upgrade yet again my ship to see if it works?

Also, if you unsubscribe after the mod downloads, Steam will delete it so you have to stay subscribed to use the mod.

Go to your "\steamapps\workshop\content\211820\" folder. Do you see a folder called "729505401"? If you do, try copying it to "\steamapps\common\Starbound\mods\".

The mod didn't appear in the option menu, thus my first question about installation. I subscribed to the mod before I start Starbound. I then created a new Novakid character and started playing it. I did the missions and even manage to have the money to buy the first upgrade. Nothing made the mod work as intended.

Start the game and click the cog in the bottom right corner and see if it says "Untrained: Fish Edition" in the window that opens.

Of course I did. I even left and started it again to be sure but it didn't work

You could edit the tier 9/10 ship mod to make it compatible. There is nothing I could do with this mod to change it.

@Asphalt Ship: This will only affect Novakid characters. To install, just subscribe and Steam will automatically download it and install it for you.

@BorderlineNarcissism: It's partially compatible, it won't crash but you will go back to having the Novakid ship when you upgrade to tier 9/10. If you don't pick up every decoration and wall, you will have things stuck in your ship walls and floating in space.

Is this mod compatible with the 9th (and 10th) tier ship mods? and of so, would upgrading from tier 8 to 9 work for replacing the ship? thanks for the information!

Will this affect my other saves? I mean: will it also want to modify my Avian's ship when I play with this character?

I can do that, and the ship will change the next time you upgrade.

If you are playing an already existing character, you will need to remove every item/block/wall including the default ones to avoid having problems. Basically, the entire ship outside of the tier 0-3 area (what you start with, before any upgrades) has to be completely naked.

If you are already at tier 8, you will have to start a new character and transfer the ship to your main. On the new one, play until you have the FTL drive repaired and then rename the .shipworld file to match your old character. Renaming ship files can cause some weird bugs so make sure you back up everything before you touch it. Delete the .bak1, 2, and 3 files before you play after renaming shipfiles.
