classic mod

This mod no longer works, you can craft the key and lock the door but with or without the key you can just open the door.

For those who are also wondering, this mod does work in build 41, in MP, and with other building mods such as More Builds.

I have tested this on a locally hosted server and on a dedicated server box. No configuration changes, simply adding the workshop ID and mod ID to the proper areas.

If the author is still alive and sees this, I love you :D

For those who are wondering, this mod DOES still work in SINGLEPLAYER as of 12/20/2022!

untill i see an update or an Mod Author make a post i will sadly have to leave it out of my MP server.

This mod was updated 6 years ago guys .. i think hope might be lost for it.

I wish this was a vanilla game feature ! ..

you should be able to find a key maker or somthing and learn how to make keys then get the metal you need and make a key for a exsisting house door .. learn how to make keys witha book ect

this mod needs updated as of today the doors are openable by anyone

Please consider a way to make Keys for environmental doors if your Skill is high enough. This Mod lets you alter an existing key if you have huge levels of Carpentry and/or Metallurgy. Why not make one for creating a new one if you have really good skills?

Please add a means to rename Doorknobs.

@nolanritchie This mod looks cool however it does not appear to work. I have tried everything, I have 1 doorknob and 1 key on me. I alter the doorknob to match the key, build the door and I am able to lock and unlock the door without even having a key.

Could you make a key or a lockpick for vehicles, not doors similar to this mod?

recipe to make a vanilla key would be nice. After playing the game for a while you amass a lot of key's how do you know you are not reusing a good key..

Nice mod, is there any possibility of adding the option to make a copy of a key?

Could you make it 8 carpentry or 4 metalworking required? I feel like metalworkers would be more responsible for this kinda thing, But at the same time it doesn't level up as fast as carpentry

Is it impossible to add mods AFTER creating a server? ORGM and specifically this mod won't work.

I don't have Hydrocraft. Maybe is because the Mod ID. The recipe it's okey, but i can't craft it and i have all the materials and skill. (I just played with the admin account)

One reason could be that hydrocraft already integrated this mod and probably changed the recipe. Another reason could be you are using silencer mod and because I accidentally used the same mod ID has as silencer mod

That works on MP? Not for me... and i have all the items and skill level.

I've never seen level 4 carpentry haha. But this really gives me something to work for now. I can see this being good for MP
