Just been thinking that having this as a new Covert Action could be a nice thing in WotC. Really not sure what the maximum number of soldier slots one can have on a Resistance Action (three?) but if it was half dozen that would be perfect.
Take your point about the Promotion rewards from Covert Actions, but having a way to bump up those lower ranked troops a little bit would still be nice.
Just a thought.
any idea how i can fix the problem? i am thinking to delete and reinstall the game.
i am new to the game and only got vanilla.
I installed this mod among others and started a patrol. This resulted in having my trained sharpshooter receiving deadeye at corporal rank.
I uninstalled the mod as i expected the trainee to receive ability corresponding to its actual rank rather than a random ability.
I started a fresh game but realised that every sharpshooter that reach corporal rank (through normal enemies killing XP) has to choose betwen deadeye or lightning hands rather than longwatch/return fire.
Can you help me solve this problem and get my sharpshooters levelling normally?
Thank you in advance.
I'm guessing I should have used the defense matrix edition instead. It never occured to me that this could happen since I didn't run into any noticeable issues until now.
You're using the Officer Pack in addition to this?
This is a very good mod in concept but this issue seems to be more common than it should from what I read in the comments. Is there any ETA on a fix?
Another consideration is how this interacts with the Squad Cohesion mod. It looks like every soldier gets more friendly with every other unit when patroling happens (that may not be the case, just an appearance). It's nice for the fight, but is that part of the design? It would seem more realistic if the junior soldiers bonded, but that the senior officers remained aloof.
I know it's just a small cosmetic thing since she obviously got the 10 dogde, but I just thought I'd mention it since I couldn't find anything similar here in the comments section.
@Anistropic
Jaaaaaaake! >:(
More seriously I think I can just switch it over to checking XComHQ.Squad since that *does* actually change when it's supposed to, once I'm done with this update on Squad Cohesion I'm working on, I'll come back to this and the Defense Matrix variant.
The mod has a check, IsOnMission(), which excludes soldiers from ranking up if they are "currently on a mission" - i.e. if their location is on the Skyranger (eSoldierLoc_Dropship).
But, it turns out that once a soldier goes on a mission, their location never gets returned to the Barracks - effectively, he/she never leaves the dropship .
That means that once a soldier goes on a mission, they will never get XP from this mechanic again. :(
This is kind of Firaxis' fault since they should have reset the location, but hey. Anyway, the easiest way to fix this is to just remove the IsOnMission() check. It doesn't really do anything for this mod anyway.
Well done with the initial picture, and of course, the mod ^_^
From looking at the code, the mentor ability and the xp are added on the same code path, so it's weird that I get the first but not the second. Most mod conflicts wouldn't do that. No redscreen errors at completion, either.
At the moment I'm thinking it might be a conflict with soldier fatigue, but I dunno. Sorry for the false alarm. :)
