I had a small issue with non-printable characters ingame for a Kavithan city. They just appeared as boxes. Just a heads up. Interesting mod idea.

@Igorrozas Yes, many of the names it generates will be strange and silly, for all the sponsors. This is because the mod simply picks at random from a list of all the words that are applicable for that city. (e.g. "bosque" is appropriate because the city is next to a forest, "costa del" is appropriate because it's on the coast, and "kemena" is always appropriate for Franco-Iberian cities).

I don't speak any language except english, so I may have made mistakes when writing the lists using Google Translate and Wikipedia. If you would like to look through the xml files and suggest improvements then I will be happy to hear them.

"Costa del BosqueKemena" or Coast of StrongForest. As someone who knows spanish and euskera, this is the most riculously funny name I've ever heard. The fusion between spanish and eukera and been even in the same word... Maybe in english is common finding names like this, but it sounds very stupid for someone who speaks every day this languages. Ir looks like you have worked a lot on this mod, but I suppose is hard to work with languages you don't know.

I figured that out already, thanks :) Nevertheless playing with your mod was refreshing (I'm still on vanilla), I'm quite sad I had to turn it off.

@lediableboiteux Sorry to hear that. I'm aware that Linux can have it's own peculiar issues when running mods (something to do with capital letters in filenames, I think), but since I don't have Linux myself I'm not able to test or figure out what the problem is you're encountering. You should be able to disable this mod and continue your current savegame without problems though.

I played this once on a duel map, 1v1, and the AI player remained as „Unmet player 2” (I could not interact with him, though he could interact with me) until I turned the mod off. I don't remember whether this happened immediately or when I founded another city, now named as Panasiatic Collective's default capital. Apart from that, it seemed to randomly segfault the game (Linux version).

@draygriff That's pretty much what the unmodded game already does. Each civ has a sequence of city names (e.g. Central, Axiom, Vanguard, Liberty for ARC) and the game assigns the next name in that sequence when they found a city.

All you'd need to do to make your mod is change the TXT_KEYs for each sponsor's existing city names to read "alpha", "bravo", "charlie", etc.

Would it be possible to make a name gererator that would automatically gernerate names based on a sequence? Like: One, Two, Three or Alpha, Bravo, Charlie?

nice .. shame doesn't work with some of the added/mod'd sponsers .. but definately gonna use.
