City Name Generator [RT or Vanilla]

描述
Automatically generates names for newly founded cities, by stringing together words from a sponsor-specific list.

Terrain Types, Features and Resources near the city affect which names are chosen, e.g. a city on the coast near some Chelonia may get a name meaning "Whale Bay", while a city near a river and some Petroleum might get one meaning "Oil-bridge".

The generated names can be edited in the usual way, by clicking "edit" next to the city's name in the city view screen, and new ones can be generated at any time using the "generate name" button added to that popup.


Sponsors Supported
- Includes word lists to generate names for all Vanilla and Rising Tide sponsors.
- Sponsors without a word list (i.e. because they're added by a mod) will use their usual names instead of generated ones.

Compatability
- Works with and without Rising Tide.
- No known conflicts with other mods.
- Does not affect savegames, so can be switched on or off halfway through a game.

* Problems have been reported when using with the Linux version of the game. Use at your own risk if you have Linux, and remember you can turn the mod off without breaking savegames.

Optional Features
The following options can be enabled in the Advanced Setup screen when starting a new game.

- Default Capitals: The original capital city of each sponsor will use it's default name, instead of a generated one.
- Rename On Capture: When a city is captured, it's name will be altered or added to by the new owner.

I had a small issue with non-printable characters ingame for a Kavithan city. They just appeared as boxes. Just a heads up. Interesting mod idea.

@Igorrozas Yes, many of the names it generates will be strange and silly, for all the sponsors. This is because the mod simply picks at random from a list of all the words that are applicable for that city. (e.g. "bosque" is appropriate because the city is next to a forest, "costa del" is appropriate because it's on the coast, and "kemena" is always appropriate for Franco-Iberian cities).

I don't speak any language except english, so I may have made mistakes when writing the lists using Google Translate and Wikipedia. If you would like to look through the xml files and suggest improvements then I will be happy to hear them.

"Costa del BosqueKemena" or Coast of StrongForest. As someone who knows spanish and euskera, this is the most riculously funny name I've ever heard. The fusion between spanish and eukera and been even in the same word... Maybe in english is common finding names like this, but it sounds very stupid for someone who speaks every day this languages. Ir looks like you have worked a lot on this mod, but I suppose is hard to work with languages you don't know.
