As for reducing crime and violent crime?
I had the policy reduce crime since legalizing polygamy would essentially get rid of it as a crime
(If polygamy was illegal, it would be a crime, increasing the crime rate for those who still perform polygamy regardless of its legal status)
For violent crime, I look at current polygamous communities are. Some of them are quite abusive towards women and may even force underage girls into marriage with them. From what I've seen, it appears these communities are able to get away with this because they are forced to perform polygamy away from the rest of society, due to their lifestyle being illegal. Legalizing polygamy would allow these communities to come out into the open, meaning it would be much harder for abusers to get away with their crimes.
