Polygyny = A man with multiple wives

Polyandry = A woman with multiple husbands

Polygamy = Any form of group marriage, although usually referring to polygyny



Reasoning for each change...

Liberals/Liberalism: Liberals would tend to consider polygamy to be morally acceptable, so long as it's between consenting adults. They would believe that the government should stay out of the bedroom. It would also increase more acceptance for this form of lifestyle, which is why it increases liberalism.

Conservatives: Conservatives tend to consider marriage as between a man and a woman, believing that anything deviating from that norm is morally corrupt and wrong.

Religious: Due to most polygamous communities being religous, I set it so that the religious would be in favor of polygyny. However, increasing the legalization past polygyny would begin to make the relgious upset.

Parent Membership: Obviously, if there's more people involved in a marriage, there's going to be more parents.

Crime: I had the policy reduce crime since legalizing polygamy would essentially get rid of it as a crime
(If polygamy was illegal, it would be a crime, increasing the crime rate for those who still perform polygamy regardless of its legal status)

Violent Crime: I look at current polygamous communities are. Some of them are quite abusive towards women and may even force underage girls into marriage with them. From what I've seen, it appears these communities are able to get away with this because they are forced to perform polygamy away from the rest of society, due to their lifestyle being illegal. Legalizing polygamy would allow these communities to come out into the open, meaning it would be much harder for abusers to get away with their crimes.
