@Pigfaced: You have to enter the police station (from the back via the air vent). From there open the door to the north. See the last screenshot, it is a map of the city.

The reason why your wall count is so high with relative low detail compared to todays maps is because you "wasted" a lot of walls.
For example the bridge you have (that i liked), that require stairs takes a lot of walls because you have to do small square sectors. You can also make the stairs out of sprites to save walls.

But what really increased your wall count a lot is the round looking sectors. I agree that the smooth round edges look a lot better but it costs too much.
I would say that you could delete about 1/3 of the walls without making the map look worse.

I hope you take it into consideration because i liked the map and hope to see more of you and to see you improve.

Your map only has about 1500 sectors. It's the wall count that is at about maximum. (how did you mix that up xD)
Tower of babel is about 9000 walls right? I had to detele some because it reduced frame rate since it is a really small map.
I looked at your map and i can see that you can easily remove at least 5000 walls that you spent unneccesarily. The wall count increases depending on the lines you see, if the line is red then it is 2sided and counts as 2 walls.

@bullerbuller7: First off, thank you for your opinion. I value every feedback.

The level of detail is relative. Of course I have seen smaller maps with more detail than the one I built. In order to better understand the complexity, I suggest to open it in a map editor. I had a look at one of the maps you co-designed (Tower of Babel). I do like the style of design it is a nice map. In terms of complexity they are however in two different leagues. My issues was that Duke maps only allow a maximum of 16'384 sectors, of which I used up 16'382 (in fact I had to delete some sectors in the end, simpy to be able to finish my map). The "Tower of Babel" map counts 1'219 sectors, which is less than factor 10. Please do not take is as a negative comment. I am simply inviting you to build a map with a similar complexity like mine and more detail (just be aware it will take quite some time, I can tell you).

Thanks for making a map.
It's an okay map, it is about mediocre.
The gameplay lacked at times but was mostly balanced well.
The detail of the map was mediocre because you didn't detail it well at places.
You advertised the map with text in the main picture to get more subs right?
Sure, it's a fine sized map with lots of rooms that don't matter at all, but if you don't detail it at all then it's a bad looking map.

I like Build, used to play around with it years ago but only completed 1 map and a couple test maps I made to figure out heights and widths.
But I like making maps in Sauerbraten (Cube 2) better, and I'll eventually finish those first.

@4EverTooLate: thanks for your ongoing support. I will have another look, when I have time (I ran a "corruptcheck" in mapster32 and it turned out to be fine). This map really pushes the limits: I am using 16'382 out of 16'384 possible sectors

Sorry, you are right and Steam Build was showing the wrong colors. I dug up my old files and loaded your map in Mapster and it looks right.
However when I ran it in eduke32 I got this error:

@4EverTooLate: Yes, this is exactly how I set it. I already built duke multiplayer maps back in '96 and I am puzzled why it did not work. So far I tried the co-op with a friend. It would be appreciated, if somebody else could try the co-op mode and report back here in the comments (maybe it was a local issue on out network game).

APLAYER : Sprite #1405

The APlayer Sprite is used to define where all multi-players will start in the map.
You must have a minimum of 7 Sprites in the map for an 8 player multi-play game and a minimum of 7 Sprites in the map for an 8 player Coop game.
Lotag : 0 = Multi-player start position
1 = Coop-player start position

the single-play start position will be used as one of the multi-play and one of the co-op start positions
To identify co-op start positions from multi-play ones, give the co-op Duke sprites a low tag of 1.
For co-op, place all the player starts right near the single-play start position (brown arrow in 2D mode) so that the co-op team will be together at the start of the game.

I suspected that it might not be your own language, and I am no english grammer expert but I'm OK, I may take another look and retranslate it for you.
I can't get 3D mode to work in Steam/Build so I kind of gave up on looking at the doors, for now.

I see you have 8 DM starts that are purple, clearly you meant them to be coop starts, because they are right next to each other..
You just need 7 aplayer sprites with no tags, they should be light blue not purple, the purple is for DM maps.
Sorry I don't have the instructions because they are on a crashed computer, just going by memory.
Also please check your grammer, the messages make no sense to me.

Thank you for your feedback. I am aware that it is difficult to navigate around on a non-linear map. The first time I played it, it took me about 45 min, but of course I checked out every corner. If you do not follow the story line (watch out for the screens, they will give you helpful advise), the way is actually quite easy. I will send it to you via PM, in order not to spoil it for others.

There is still a glitch with the coop mode. Any clue why it is not working?

It´s a good map. Some stuff is to big (size), some doors are tricky. Less weapons/ammo/medic and I don`t find the way (I found only the keycard in the safe). Some areas looks empty but overall the map is good and have enough details. Make your next map smaller + easier and you are on the right way.
