Played on heavily modded v41.73 Singleplayer, and worked fine. Just the text colors isn't showing like in the screenshot, but still tells if you have it or not.

Rules:

Yes and no.
I was plying PZ41 and it did work, but blindcoder (author) did modified it's version which probably does not work correctly on PZ41 AND PZ40 (do not ask me why he did this modification - there is chance that it did work, and core game was modified and broke this mod). It's related to math function.

Now, since he did not reply from 29th Jun when this issue was reported here, I'll post here my (older and slightly changed) version of His mod.

care to share error log (here or at github) Also, was it an key-less knob (as in not from external door)? Asking as they have id -1 and there was bug in past about those (but was fixed already).

Like I said, error log would be nice to have.

I've not done any digging to try to resolve this prior to asking but are there any known mod incompatibilities? I noticed I was getting an infinite error counter whenever I hovered the mouse over any doorknob so I decided to try removing this mod and the errors stopped. It looks like you are still actively supporting and updating it and I see there are other players vouching for it's functionality (and I swear I remember seeing this work on a game many years ago) so I'm guessing there's just some other mod that it's not playing nice with? I'm on build 40, if that helps. I'd really like to continue using this mod if possible.

@ttr: I merged that PR, thank you.
I did change it a bit, though. Showing code-internal key ID's felt a bit immersion-breaking to me, so I added some logic to show a description of the key instead, which is based on the key's ID.
So now it'll say for example:

This knob needs an ornate key with 3 notches and one tooth.

@bindcoder - do you have any code repository (like github) ? I've did small modification to your code (to show ids of key/knob) and this might be handy for others.
For vanilla SP/MP might be not needed, but in case of using survivors and hydrocraft (locksmith) mod this actually is helpful to create potential restricted zones.

Also might help to easy sort/name keys.

Hi Blindcoder! I was wondering if I would be able to put a modified version of your mod into the server mod for my server, Monghell? I'd include a credit and link.

We're at a point where we have so many mods that it can take forever for new players to download the mods when they first login, so I'm trying to get permission to fold mod content into the server mod so it's not such a problem anymore.

Actually, this mod could use a few extra features... Allow renaming doorknobs and allow drop-key feature for the doorknobs in your inventory or on the ground so the keys can be kept together ( allow right-clicking keys too to drop associated doorknobs and keys with one go and vice versa.. )...

Fantastic! I like the option to rename keys in the vanilla game, but this is a nice touch for keys, etc.. It'd be nice to rename doorknobs and keys, or to have an id associated so Key ( 9351 ) or so, ie their pin combination / depth of each pin for the key so doorknobs can be matched with keys...
