BIS has introduced similar optimizations to the native game engine though.
e.g obj distance 1000
start game=1100
game 2 or restart game = 1200
game 3 = 1300
It is now available via ACE3. ACE3 users are encouraged to remove this addon and use ACE3 function instead.
You can set default oVD and regular vD in your main menu, you just can't change it while being in game, while controlling your character.
It's not set at any "predefined" or "default" level, it takes whatever your seting is at and works with it.
Release with ACE3 should fix these issues, as it is going to be using ACE3 variables. I would've had to make similar menu for these settings if I wanted to fix the known issues, and then you would adjust your viewdistances in this menu.
