I got my *ss completely slapped in my first campaign in years with the Seleucid. The AI kept spamming massive armies which were capable to rush everywhere while I could barely raise two (due to the pop system) and I could never do anything meaningfull with my armies anyway due to insane mouvement penalty.
I guess I must admit defeat and play in easy difficulty. Either that or the difficulty is just too punishing for no reason right now.
Cheers.
Sure, AI has it easier early on but you have brain that eventually lets you outdo AI, since AI can't plan at all.
All of that is to prevent major TW issue, which is that there is challange only within first 30-50 turns, after which only steamroll is left.
We do stuff thinking about later stages of the game so if AI might seem hard for you at first, it will still pose a threat at turn 100.
Stuff like civil wars can be easily avoided, I dont consider myself good player and even I never had to face one.
You can also try official Alternative Campaign Experience submod, it makes early game a bit easier and just adds difficulty as you grow.

It should be in one of the random numbered folders in similar location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content
Sure, you can use existing behavior to make some other unit types use it (like all melee cav is moved to shock cav class so they cycle charge and flank more) but you can't remove/add new behavior.
Randomly you have half your nation rebels, happening very often. Its not a rare event.
In the trade view of your faction, "SALT" goods is not listed in produced or imported. It shows below where you can see the individual trades with other factions.
Like food is not being magically taken away from you, it were you building decisions that stripped you off food that you produce.
I give this mod a go every couple of years and I never make it past about where I am right now before the campaign just stalls and becomes a slog. I guess it's just not for me.
Can someone explain me how to activate the mod in Unix with Proton DB 9.4 activated please?
1. Launch the Game – Start Total War: Rome II
2. Open Task Manager
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Alternatively, you can right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager.
3. Go to the Details Tab
In Task Manager, click on the Details tab at the top.
Look for rome2.exe in the list of running processes.
4. Set CPU Affinity
Right-click rome2.exe and select Set Affinity from the dropdown menu.
5. Unselect Some CPU Cores
A window will appear showing which CPU cores the game is using.
Uncheck a few cores (for example, if you have 6 cores, uncheck CPU 9 to 11).
Click OK to apply the changes.
6. Resume the Game
This fix can be applied even if game already froze.
MS messed up last Win11 update and it causes crashes in many games.
I also have problems randomly with entering ground battles.... everything worked fine before that, and i even fought several ground battles in the same campaign, but it keeps randomly happening.
It simply freezes on the loading screen. The game window is not frozen itself, but the loading bar is stuck at the start, and does not move even after many minutes. I can still move my cursor, and there is game music playing in the background.
And even if i close the game, and retry, that same battle is never allowing me to go into ground battles. It only allow me to auto resolve....
Pls help.
i have now re installed steam and the game and am currently trying to reinstal the mods and hope they work.
