New version 1.3.5, currently in open Beta, will be soon integrated into the main mod.
And yes, there is official submod to turn it off.
This is the most stupid and most annoying aspect of the entire mod.
Apparently Rome has 2500 patricians and 150 plebeians. I can't even field a single fuc*ing cohort of Hastati while Carthage sends 3 deathstack armies at me every two turns.
Interestingly, it occurred to me that after occupying a city in a different province that's completely different from my culture, my army's replenishment remained turned on in the occupying turn, as well as all turns afterwards. Given the local population of Patricana & Plebs in the newly occupied city were close to zero, shouldn't the replenishment for my Pleb & Patrican-based units be turned off? Recalling my previous experiences of playing DEI from a few years ago, I am under the impression that replenishment, just like recruitment, is linked to the population mechanism - there must be enough manpower in a population category in a region for a corresponding unit stationed there to replenish its ranks; (conversely, if a category of population is depleted, the units recruited from this category is disabled for replenishment due to manpower shortage.)
(I am not using any other mods - just DEI part 1-3.)
