Also, as a gift for your participation, a sneak peek of Vault 02.

Thank you all so much for the feedback. I'll only be using component mods in small niche creations, but leave my larger creations vanilla so everyone can enjoy them.

I'll be unlisting this workshop post, as I've gotten more than enough great feedback.
Also, thank you Endo for the TPS info.

I am not a huge fan of mods though I do use them occasionally. also if you do decide to use mods I would recommend adding the mods used to the required items section because the game doesn't install the needed mods automatically.

Also note: Components are actually TPS heavy compared to vanilla parts.

Hey Echo, unless you're going to turn your projects into modded locations on the map you're not going to get any real benefit from using mods as parts for your projects.

I would suggest if you're going to use mods go full location mod.

If you're going going to use mods for parts - then don't use mods and just go full vanilla.

Hope this helps.

mods are heresy and only heretics use mods (environment mods are ok)

dio pays me to complain
Echoless  [作者] 12 月 8 日 下午 5:12
Do you get paid to complain about everything I do?

I prefer to talk and write this way, it's just the way I write.

do you get paid per stormworks build why do you talk like a corporation
Echoless  [作者] 12 月 8 日 下午 4:53
@Dio.
Uhh, why?

I'm responding just for the purpose of sharing my opinion, not to argue in any way, and I respect all of your opinions.

I never found myself using mods for decoration purposes, just functionality. In particular, having the Sprk's Electric and Mechanical Parts Expanded mods are just incredible to use, differentials, compact rps meters, smaller electric motors and all kinds of stuff to put in my builds. I want everyone to experience mods at their best, but I want everyone to be able to experience the build itself too. The most important mod for my upcoming builds is the JakeIsLoud's Optimized Building Components, it will drastically reduce the file size of Vault 02.

this feels AI generated

Its alright. I mean I havent tried component mods yet but arent they actually quite convenient to use now? No extra steps/download. As long as you have fun building then thats the spirit of stormworks, its not a deal breaker for me if I can still assure other players can enjoy the build even in multiplayer and without the hassle of needing to manually install mods.

I'd say Nay as (Like Quantum toast said) Vanilla Stormworks has major limitations which makes building way more interesting as it requires you to use your brain more in creation, having vehicles built from a small pool (well in stormworks, not so much) making vehicles more creative. Another community which allowed modding which I was a part of was Spaceflight Simulator, modding being allowed basically contributed to the fall of the community (besides a certain collection.) I see this as a result of changing iconic parts of a game, resulting in a collapse. A community is created by a game for it's factors. Doing something drastic can destroy it. (Nearly happened with the Space DLC.) However, some games don't have this case like HL2 into Gmod.

yeah! i think you should make mods, im really trying to find a heat seeking mod like a seeking block where it detects heat and it can be used for infrared missiles
programmer137 12 月 7 日 下午 11:53
to be clear I don't have an opinion, I feel this is your choice to make and I'll be happy with whatever you choose

I've learned the ways of XML deco way too much to do mods myself, as well as the tradeoff of likely quite a bit poorer workshop performance not being worth it. That being said, I see the value in mods and I belive "vanilla style" somewhat lightly modded creations are good, and I'd love to see more on the workshop as I feel that's something we're lacking quite a lot of
Quantum toast 12 月 7 日 下午 11:41
In my opinion (Not necessarily the correct one) The limitations of the stormworks build system (including clever use of xml) are what gives stormworks it's style. I wouldn't use mods for this reason, but they aren't a sin or anything.

I think only Thales windows is worth it.

If you vote, please let me know why you chose what you did, I'd love to hear it.
