Is the trait path able to continue even If my character is an adult or is it kust when they're kids?
Hi, I wonder if you would be open to make few compatibility events or actions for improving existing/adding new congenital traits? I thought about making a compatch for my mod, but after closer look into your code-base I found that annoying to do without rewriting everything on my side.

Don't feel force to do it though, I just ask if you already had such idea or are willing to add it. I probably will make generalized compatch mod for other modders when I have time myself

Is there no way to design a ruler with a set amount of xp for the trait? Sucks having my starting character all at 0 in traits.

Seems like a really neat mod. Is it possible to still reliably get the traits to max level for your children like in vanilla?
@SomeRandomChris: It doesn't. Going to update that. Odds are, you have a Level 2 trait, even though it appears like a Level 3. So the decision requirements appear to be unmet (which, code wise, is technically true). In the next update, it'll have a specific XP requirement.
Hi, I was just wondering how does this mod affects the "Strengthen Bloodline" decision? It doesn't seem to work for me.
@kwonth1000: XP is gained passively in both cases. Check out the discussion post for this mod to see the mechanical breakdown.

@the soldier: I'm assuming so. No one has said otherwise.

@Lamenest: I can try to do some AI translation. No way for me to ensure it's any good. But I don't know, people seem really concerned about AI around these parts. Might put someone out of a job or bring about judgement day.

@Schnattenkriegerin: Not sure what you mean?
Hello, Thanks for great mod.
I just have a question about this mod and your other mod "A Court of Beasts and Crowns".

how get xp of these mod's traits?
Is there have some rule of action? or just get xp by time?
Red 11
did u test agot @soldier
Agot compatible??
Lamenest 11
This looks awesome, i really REALLY love the idea behind this mod, need russian translation, please 🙏
@Olympia: Would it be possible for you to tell us the Trait Id and Track ? I jsut ask because I wanted to read all the descriptions in peace.
Ed Balls 11
great plans
@horatio: Thanks for your encouraging words! I have a deeper mod coming out soon-ish that gets even deeper into genetics and education.

@bboy_damo: Agreed. Working on an education rework that will be integrated with a more advanced version of this mod. Stay tuned!

@HootieHoo: Are their traits showing up by the time they reach 4? Or 18 if they're not all that important?
this is awesome! made a reddit post a few months ago asking for someone smarter than myself to make some kind of genetic overhaul, this looks great!
This looks cool. I was thinking that something like this absolutely needs to be done to education traits. Getting a set value at the end of childhood is ridiculous. Learning is a lifelong process, and most of it is done as an adult.
I was hoping for powder mages 0 out of 10, jk i'll probably be giving this a shot when i finish painting the new map
@Olympia it seems to be present in agot but a number of starting children characters that start with congental traits no longer have them.
@Rei: I'm sure you're not the only parent to feel that way.

@That Darth: That would be so flattering! Let's hope.

@ReVoltage: I don't play with any TCs, but unless AGOT (or any other TC) alters the base game congenital traits, it should be compatible.

If anyone can confirm or give me any feedback letting me know about compatibility issues with popular Total Conversions, that'd be awesome.
Wondering if this is compatible with AGOT?
That Darth 11
cant wait till Paradox passes this off as their own work in a update/DLC
Rei 11
Aaah ok, I need to pay attention to my children more.
@Rei: The mod doesn't change the vanilla inheritance mechanics. It does hide any of the main congenital traits they're born with until 4.
Rei 11
Are these making traits no longer congenital? I noticed that my offpsrings are not getting these congenital traits anymore except Fecund, even with a full Bloodline dynasty legacy.
@puttmeister: Slow clap award for you! 👏

@Goblin: Might want to workshop that pickup line a bit more. Comes off a little crass at the moment.

Thanks again to those supporting the content of the mod, rather than cultishly obsessing about the tools I used to make free content for the community!

For those requesting or offering translations, I will look into it, but might not get to it. Holiday this week in the states.

do you think this mod would work with Petty Inheritable Traits?

Vhodnoylogin 11
Does this mod have localization stubs for other languages?
@SeelieFae: That discussion guide I just posted should help answer your questions. In a nutshell, you can't really improve the traits directly. It's influenced by your child's education and acquired traits. There is no additional trait XP acquired after 18. I am working on a more complex mod that also reworks childhood education, where this system will get expanded on. This mod was released first for maximum compatibility.

@Mycelia: I'm pretty sure I used a similar line on one of my ex boyfriends when I broke up with them.

@Emily: Oh baby gurl, so classless. I guess thanks for taking the time to add your voice to the space. But I prefer creating over policing. Highly recommend giving it a try sometime.

@Arthas Diablo: Doubtful, as I believe that mod has its own trait system.
@Verlant: Thanks for the feedback. Made me realize I needed a more in depth explanation to the systems under the hood. I posted it here . Let me know if you still have questions. Strengthen Bloodline is untouched. But I may need to alter it, as a Rank 2 trait can sometimes get enough XP to switch to the Rank 3 image, without actually changing the trait itself (so as far as the decision requirements are concerned, you still don't have Rank 3 yet). I'll look it into. I was hoping to avoid overriding too many vanilla files.
Thanks to all the positive comments from the community! It's always so nice to get warm feedback from fellow gamers who took the time out to leave a positive note and make the space just a little bit better than when they arrived.

@Buck Hucklebuck: Ah, a fellow teacher! You are very seen.

@lilbeemer302: Not sure. I don't use TCs myself, but as long as the mod authors maintain the same congenital traits as the base game, it should work.

Thank you! Added.

@Aurelius: There is a certain element of randomness, definitely. But there is more purpose and intentionality behind it. I wrote up a more in-depth explanation here . Your point about the ruler designer cost is well taken. I will look into that. Also appreciate your pov on the genius vs physique vs beauty stance. Helpful to hear!
Arthas Diablo 11
is this compatible with elf destiny?

Good early mod but needs a lot more work. There is so much potential here but prob wouldn't use on a serious run for now.
I'm just wondering, how exactly is each track improved? Can we improve it only when our characters are children, or is it possible throughout their life? Sorry, I've just been having some trouble really working out how to improve each track. I really love playing with your mods.
Aurelius 11
Other quick thing: your description reads 'genius turns you into a demigod', which totally fair take. I might be in the minority, but I think extra stats are great but overrated. Lifestyle xp > stats for me from traits like quick vs. genius.

Meanwhile, health and attraction opinion are mechanically *super strong* in CK3. Health lets you play into old age and avoid random deaths (one life is huge for building empires early on). Meanwhile attraction opinion can get you enormous levies and taxes if most of your vassals get the modifier.

Just my personal opinion and not sure how you're considering costs/balance.
Verlant 11
Addendum

"Strengthen Bloodline" works just fine. Don't know why it didn't at first... maybe a mod conflict or something?
Verlant 11
@Aurelius: After testing for a little longer, I was also just about to mention the same thing! It feels really off, or rather, immersion/balance breaking that the trait tiers don't really matter anymore, even though they have different costs, since they all have the same progression benefits.
Aurelius 11
I love the concept of this mod. Variable congenital traits is an awesome idea.

However, there's some things that feel like missed opportunities or questionable balance. From a couple of tests, xp seems to be random and trait dependent. It would be nice if you could more directly influence your own progression when playing as a child.

The biggest issue imo, is that it doesn't seem like there's much difference between a Tier 1 vs. a Tier 3 trait besides the xp and potential. The distinction between a quick vs. genius character seems pretty slim at the moment.

I see that you rebalanced the ruler designer costs, which is a good call.Traits should be worth their costs. However, the balance feels off. Vanilla Intelligent costs 160 points, no RNG involved and you get +3 to all stats, +20% lifestyle, and other bonuses. For 180 points, it feels like you'd be lucky to get anything comparable with your modded version.

Anyhow, I look forward to seeing how this mod develops!
