you said you learned how to do a lot with AI, but are there any AI generated code or assets in the final product?

@Nugear, I just wanted to say thank you for exporting this character! I've been looking for a version of this guy that accurately represents a balanced Zero that feels completed as well as reminding me of the megaman zero series. I think this character accomplishes these things quite well. I also appreciate your communication with your community and seemingly active work on the character to bring out its best potential. This is a great start and I am looking forward to the end result! Also, I thought the coloring of the character model skins were really well done. I don't really know what work or tools went into that, but either way I am really happy with how they turned out. Again, thank you, and I am looking forward to what is to come!

Also after playing more, I feel Side B needs a cooldown of some kind since it's very spam-able and its free chip damage in combos.

Found a new bug. While it's intended that Zero can do his Charge attacks from Dodging, I found that doing any Charge attack partway through the Dodges causes unintended things. Zero can keep his Air Dodge when he does Charge Buster partway, meaning he can do another one afterward provided you hadn't used it. Doing Charge Saber, on the other hand, carries over the invulnerability from the Dodge into the Charge Saber, meaning you cannot punish it. Dunno if the former can be fixed because of game mechanics (then again I could be wrong), but the latter definitely has to be fixed with the next update.

Quick note i wanna make about his weight, it's currently 0.75, which is honestly extremely heavy. In the base game, the absolute heaviest a character gets is 0.9. A weight of 0.75 can let him survive charged smash attacks at almost 200%. I would recommend making him a lightweight to compensate for his relatively strong frame data and disjoints, like 1.15 or 1.2, which would put him at around the same weight as ori or wrastor. If his frame data gets significantly increased, it might be better to do more of a midweight value of like 1 or 1.05.

@Wimdy id much rather have someone doing the code than have to use Ai. on god. if someone does help out i would easily switch. plus id be able to focus more on sprite work.

the art at the end was a quick thing. i wanted to show something as a teaser, but its hard not to share the details until that character is done. but everything else art wise will be me. I wont use ai again for anything art related.

Okay, so. Coding is at least one thing, but if the art was AI, I would've been a lot more peeved. Its not as bad as it could be, but its still off-putting. If ya do plan to implement proper coding and this is more of a filler for the moment, then hey.

Just uh. Really, my main worry was that the WHOLE thing was AI.

I was curious to hear from Windy as i wanted to know the perspective, so thats also a good point. in this case its far from lazy for me. if i had someone to do my code, id work with them. its like if i was given the choice to dig a hole with a tractor or a shovel. im taking the tractor, but i still need to know how to operate it. Ai has so much flaws and i expect it to. so I genuinely have to know a few things or everything wont work.

as for right now i cant promise the next few characters wont be made with Ai. and ive found a way that works for me in making characters. i wouldnt have been able to make this without its help as i have tried to get assistance for other characters and that didnt go as planned (nothing bad just didnt work out)

again tho i appreciate your point of view, and thank you so much for letting me know that i left out the info here.

I apologize for assuming about the bugs, your description was just a bit vague about your usage of AI. Still rather you didn't use it for the stage concept or to "develop the character's code." People like Wimdy and I don't want anything to do with it given how it gains information, it's environmental cost, and being a sign of laziness or improper care.

@Tsukiru the photo was ai as i didnt have any means of showing that off the way i wanted to at the time. so i made it clear in the video for the image. as for the character i can fix the bugs. its not going to cause any issues. it does have cleaning and updates to do on things that can be done but these are not caused by Ai in any way. and i can show my process if that helps.

the idea that Ai "cant" be used shouldnt be. it should be limited and not sold. im not selling this nor am i trying to hide it. its just a character in a game.

AI has helped me in many ways and ive learnt though other things and though Ai to make this and other character later on.

Im not going to argue AI with anyone. but i will let people know thats what i used. im not good at coding but i can work around it a lil. Ai isnt even perfect and can give me some stupid responses sometimes that i have to work around or just fully ignore.

This page should mention your use of AI. It's a bit weird it's limited only to the stage preview (with an AI generated image no less) and video description says "I've learned many things through AI to make this," but not here?

There's a good case why the official GameMaker discord doesn't want to deal with AI generated code with all the bugs you have to fix.

Believe its just some leftover code from Omega where he can press Down A+B to get a different attack. I got it accidentally one time and had to check the other button combos that were leftover too. This Zero can also do Up A+B to get Flame Fang instead of pressing Down then Up. Also putting here that non-held Down Air has some other sprites in the latter half of the animation. Just more fixes to be done!

found a bug: vs the new rayman, on tower of hevan stage. doing DSpec sometimes, soon after landing. gets locked in a two frame animation (lifting the rock to throw), invulnerable, and 3 blue stripes that run vertically the entire screen. These lines do damage to the little sprite wall guy when he appears. worked still again after three restart levels. didn't test with other chars.

This is a really well made Zero. The sprites are really good and I like the idea of combining different movesets of other zeros into one. If I had to point any issues I have, though, it'd be his forward strong. It's weird to have it not work like a usual strong, and it really doesn't launch well at all. I know it's meant as a combo tool, but it doesn't always work well. I think it could of worked well if it did behave like a regular strong while still keeping its mechanic of blocking/reflecting projectiles (during charge for example).
Also, I found a bug where if the final hitbox of the shield thrown (final frame of the shield being visible) hits a player, it cannot hit said player ever again the next time the move is used, even after that player dies.

Guys I dont take things seriously but I should make this clear. I don't mind any kind of Critique. sometimes it helps me see things i didnt. so don't be afraid to say things. but also keep in mind that Ive made 2 characters and they both (to me) feel like what they are to others and myself. I love Rivals and i will continue to make fun characters. they wont always be 100% balanced. and i try to make them fair even if i have to change things over time. So enjoy what you like and if you like this all the better cus Rivals is fun and thats all we need.

@Sans with Pancreatic Cancer not everything in life is perfect. tho there will be balancing i cannot promise it will be something for everyone. I wanted Zero to feel as close to himself from the games as possible. if you must know. he will have a slight dash acel and a slow after to make players tap dash. if its not for you its not for you and that ok X)

he's so busted, his speed + no acceleration + zero startup or endlag on most attacks + THAT NAIR makes him like melee fox on crack, and he's got a good projectile and better ranged attacks, so you do the math
it's hilarious but oh my god i could never bring myself to fight a real person with him

Anyways, I tried him out. Only thing I kinda find weird is his Shield Boomerang's function.

It doesn't REALLY go around him, only just makes a quarter circle and disappears, maybe in my opinion... you could probably make him actually throw it, like make the boomerang into a projectile (could be the one that rolls on the ground or flies around and return back to you) instead of a close-range stuff (unless if that's being worked on.)
