Oh, btw @wyvern350, when you mentioned some time ago the ambushes did not stop after you disabled them, I wonder if it is because you were playing with friends and their ambushes were still triggering. A restart should never be required. If you want Sacred Hunt ambushes to start (assuming Sacred Hunt is active) at most you may need to disconnect and reconnect after disabling Night Terrors.

Heya @wyvern350. The observation you have had with the weapon and the lost aura are both odd, and I have not seen that. Did you notice the lost aura after editing the thrall with some other mod? Does the aura appear on your Stats page but not on your HUD? If so, it could just be a UI bug/setting for your HUD. How did you see the damage on the axes when they were on the thrall? Were you looking at the item info when the item was selected, or some stats screen (see the screenshot I added, with the axes equipped and a level 20 corrupted valkyrie thrall nearby).

Great to hear it @HBKevin, glad your Night Terrors spawns are happening as expected now! At level 60+, a range of 2-4 ambushes a night is typical if you remain out in the wild all night. It depends a bit on RNG and how long it takes to dispatch the ambushes. At lower levels, it might trend slightly higher because you can most likely finish the ambushes faster. The pinned Night Terrors Survival Guide has a lot of these details. That said, if you have played with server settings to extend or slow down the night, that can change things. I agree, it can get chaotic at times (intentional), especially partied with friends since each player has their own ambush timer! There is a console option to disable them for yourself for a break. Night Terrors when you want them and no Night Terrors when you don't. The coming update will streamline this so any player can disable/re-enable them without requiring admin access. Further customization is something I'm still looking at for the future.

@DeviouSaint After adjusting my load order, the spawns are now working perfectly — I’m finally seeing a proper mix of creatures instead of only Imps, so that definitely seemed to be a load-order issue on my end.
One thing I did notice though is that ambushes are triggering very frequently, about every few minutes throughout the night.
It doesn’t seem to be related to any other mod, but it makes the nights feel a bit chaotic rather than smooth or atmospheric.
I just wanted to mention it in case that behavior isn’t intended. Did you also notice this frequency when you tested on Savage Wilds, or did the cooldown behave normally for you there?

@DeviouSaint thank you for the reply, I’m still seeing two Imps spawning in every ambush instead of just one, if i correctly understand your message i should also be able to see skeletons and other creatures at times but i dont. you could be right, I think it might be a load order issue on my end. ive also had an issue with tot custom not working anymore wich i refresh and asserted the load order. Im going to adjust night terrrors in my mod order, in case another mod was overwriting its spawn tables. I’m going to recheck it now to see if that fixes the duplicate Imps. I’ll report back once I’ve tested it.

Okay, further information on the dual axes. On a thrall they show 50+ damage, on me they show 20+ damage.

Another weird thing is when I first took them off a valkyrie, hellforged dual axes were showing damage in the 50's, and now they show damage in the 20's.

In what circumstance would my corrupted valkyries lose their aura? Thanks to the Wings of Valhalla mod she's level 60, but newly-captured level 0's don't seem to have it, either.

UPDATE: if all goes well I will be releasing a v1.1 update either tomorrow or Thursday of this week. The update will include in-game items that can be crafted at religious altars to allow any player to disable or re-enable Night Terrors ambushes so that admin access and console commands are not necessary.

Hi @HBKevin, I tested with Savage Wilds and it looked to be working just fine. Currently imps are part of the leveling experience. If you are still pre-60 level, chances are you will see at least one imp in any ambush. The idea was to not make things difficult during leveling but to add challenge at the end game. At level 60, I was seeing expected ambushes on Savage Wilds (no imps). Please let me know what you see at level 60. Perhaps it is some other mod interfering, not SW.

Hi HBKevin, awesome testing, and thank you for sharing about it. I will make it a point to test it out on Savage Wilds some this weekend. I expected Savage Wilds would be just fine with this mod, but you never know. There is no biome diversity on this mod, but interesting idea. Anyway, I'll update again once I've also tested on SW.

Did some testing on savage wilds. Mod is correctly loaded. Can spawn through admin panel. But the events trigger only imps on every level and biome and it happens every 2-3 minutes through the night - biome flags are missing, oooldown is ignored.

Hey @Fluttervi, if I follow, the issue was with Heroic Thralls. I am pretty sure that none of these mods would conflict with Heroic Thralls (or to my knowledge, Night Terrors). So you should be all good! Just RNG shenanigans most likely. Heroic Thralls are still rare spawns and all.

oh btw, is it possible it clash with orero dumheon overhaul? orero has added a new wave spawning system where if you kill a religious person theres a chance the divine entity will send a retribution force to punish you, sometimes with escalating waves. didnt think of that until just now, thats a recent addition to ODO

well i did renove two other mods at same time octimus exiles, and beyond stations. octimus because im not really using it, and beyond (its been a staple for me a long time now) just recently has been giving some severe framedrops near their benches 28-32fps (wierdly it is inconsistent and not always same bench) delete bench and boom 60fps locked no dips. so something either conflicting or bad there - but tbh, i can afford to let go as some benches feel cheat items anyway

Hi @Fluttervi! Thanks for dropping a comment. Yep, I hear you - variety of mobs between 20-40 is pretty static. Its one of a couple things at the top of my list to diversify the leveling experience a bit more. At level 40+ you start to see some of the more dangerous tier, but the leveling experience on the whole is pretty easy to handle. At level 60 is where this is a difficulty jump and you get the most diversity. I leveled another 60 since releasing this mod and can guarantee that there is no conflict with Heroic Thralls. In that time I've picked up five of the eight thralls in that, and just haven't made it out to the volcano or jungle yet for the other three. My guess is just a rough RNG experience on that one. If you continue to have trouble on that front though, we can investigate other mods causing an issue there. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts here!

@devious, Ive run this mod with heroic thralls for past 3 days. The last two ive spent searching for a heroic thrall, last night i tried going creative and check all spawn points twice. No heroics. Ontop of this from level one through to level 40 the only things ive had spawn from this mod is one skeleton archer and 4 goblins. the same group over and over regardless of level or location. I surnised that it might be a conflict between heroic thralls and this? I remove this, headed to black galleon and there was sephanna merran. might be worth looking into.

Hi DeviouSaint. First off thank you for making a great mod and for keeping it updated. It really does add a new level of difficulty to the nights.

I had a question or maybe it could be a wish list item, but is there any way to have the mod detect how many people are online and spawn based on that number or maybe a difficulty level I could set? I run a private server with a small group of friends and if we are all on at the same time your mod really makes for some fun - it's when your alone that things get to be a bit too difficult. I'm level 60 and have 2 thralls and out solo, 9 times out of 10 I'll end up dead. Either way your mod is now a part of my server's ecosystem so I can speak for us all in saying you have a great and much needed mod here. Cheers!

Hi @Kelsenpai, thanks for the great feedback and interest! All feedback is super helpful. This uses the "newer" ambush system implemented by Funcom. It works well enough for my gaming preferences, but there is still a thing or two I hope to change if I can. I thought the ambush enabled/disabled setting persists through restarts. Have you noticed different? I'll check it again. The ambushes can occur between 21:00 - 05:00 game time.

Hey again @Kvaketron, all good questions, during the night you are "safe" from the ambushes in your land claim (yep enough blocks to constitute a claim.. typically this is your base or someone else's base), but also safe in no-build zones like Sepermeru or Camp of the Castaways. Whether you build the base at night does not matter. Mobs may still follow you into those places though! As for weapons, yes I might add more in the future. Currently the only way to craft these is if you are lucky enough to find and tame Aleatha. You should find plenty though. I think dual weapons should work fine for thralls now. Lightning Gaming has a Youtube on that.. it was fixed some months back I think.

Cool concept. I'm testing this out for a server. Slightly concerned with the lack of control over it. About 3 foundations away from a foundation enemies spawned, which is rather ridiculous. There is also no way to set the interval for checks, so it seems like the moment you step away you get attacked. Bit much.
I'm thinking of using this occasionally via turning it on when I want some event with it, but concerned that the default is enabled, so there is a good chance it will turn on after an update or server restart etc.

I also checked your modded weapons and realize there is no 1h maces or katanas among them. This my and my friend main weapon and it's very sad. Can you please add some in future updates?
Also did you know that thralls cant normal use double swords or double axes? I'm not complaining but i think modded weapons become useless before i even learn how to craft it (or obtain from boss)!

So get back to "dangerous night". Will the safe zone only appear if i put some blocks? I mean if we compare with sandstorm mechanic or using torch...maybe glowing powder for night vision? There are no other option except build blocks during night?

Hi @HANTER, indeed you can in the maelstrom. These night encounters work on any map I'm aware of and are always in effect at night, so its a similar mechanic, but of course there is more to it with the corrupted valkyries and such. I expect you can even get the benefit of both if you travel the maelstrom at night, if you want more chaos.

Hi @Kvaketron, great question & thanks for asking! If you wander the entire night, yes that can be typical. There is an 80% chance when it checks for encounters that one will occur, so there could be some variance. While bosses are possible in the encounters, they are not common, and only unlock at level 60+ The fights can take longer too at that level, so there can be fewer encounters overall. Again, this is all brought on by staying out in the dangerous night :steamhappy: The 80% chance may be a custom setting in the future, but at the moment its baked in.

hi @DeviouSaint. How can i control number of ambushes? I usually have 3-4 during night. I play with slow progression so there is only imps and skeletons. Im afraid what will happen if there are x3 "ambushes with boss" later.

Thanks Angelica Rose. That looks innocent enough in the sense that I see it from time-to-time with other mods that don't cause me any issue. The crash you experienced could also be a mod compatibility issue with something else you have loaded. If you try the mod all by itself, does it work fine? Since I have not had any crash its hard to troubleshoot specifically.

Hi @Angelica Rose, thanks for the interest, and am sorry to hear you had a crash! If it is not too much trouble, the last few lines of the the server log could be helpful. With a crash, it should indicate something like Critical error, Fatal Error, or Unhandled Exception. If you have that to share, you good to open a discussion post on it?

Hi @wyvern350, I expect a server restart would certainly fix that, but ideally it is not required. I am looking at some things this week that may improve that experience. On the other hand, if you want to go back to the active Sacred Hunt werehyena ambushes, a restart is most likely required, since these ambushes share the same system on the back end.

So, still having the exception access violation 0x00000030 error on my server. I've updated my drivers and made sure game files are validated on both client and server machine. It crashes at night, presumably when spawns start, regardless of if I'm on land claim or not. The only mod change to my server has been adding Night Terrors. I've had it at start and end of my modlist, but haven't put it at the end after system updates. My server's modlist is here [ docs.google.com ]

Day/night settings are currently:
Cycle Speed: 0.5
Day Time Speed: 0.2
Night Time Speed: 2.0
Dawn/Dusk Speed :0.2

Might try resetting those setting

FYI: I found there can be issues with the werehyena ambushes not occurring during the Sacred Hunt event. While I explore this issue, there is a workaround available in the Discussion Posts if you would like to opt-in to werehyena ambushes during the Sacred Hunt event and keep this mod active.
