I love the KF1 animations so much

man, I've been wanting to port KF1 weapons into L4D2 with animations straight from the game, not borrowed from other people, their animations are great, but I prefer the accuracy with KF1 animations
however, seeing the process of doing that made me lose all my motivation, I certainly don't know how to work around with all the apps I need to do!! so seeing this makes me have hope, and I certainly have a glimpse of hope for KF1 weapons WITH original animations coming to L4D2, I would feel complete for once

Generally reskin support is done by adding folder paths on top of your chosen $cdmaterials. It would look like

$cdmaterials models\weapons\kf1m79\reskin_or_whatever
$cdmaterials models\weapons\kf1m79

The name may vary and doesn't have to be a subfolder and can be placed anywhere. The game then will load the vmts in the top specified folder, then the next one. So you place regular materials into "kf1m79" and the retexture one into the path specified in the line above.

I think it turned out well enough. Perhaps in the near future I'll make a sound mod to accompany this. Sounds are the only kind of L4D2 addon I can make competently I'm afraid lol.

I'm a very, very busy man, I cannot guarantee I will have the time to talk with people much, and I don't do comms anymore. However, this was part of a big weapon pack plan I had of porting ALL the KF1 weapons, I have the rig set-up to port any animation over, this was mostly a test run of it tbh, I need to refine the original animations more, they end in very awkward and snappy positions, makes it not look great in-game.

I've been planning to bit by bit get weapons from Killing Floor, animations and all, imported to L4D2, a few of which will be customized to fit into their roles in L4D2. Thanks to a couple of talented workshop creators I've already got the MP5M in, but have been too busy and poor to commission and work on more KF1 weapons, so this is EXTREMELY exciting.
Do you do commissions by the way? If so I'd love to enlist your services to make this happen.
Either way I'd love to talk more in-depth if you plan on continuing to add KF1 weapons to L4D2.
