The name may vary and doesn't have to be a subfolder and can be placed anywhere. The game then will load the vmts in the top specified folder, then the next one. So you place regular materials into "kf1m79" and the retexture one into the path specified in the line above.
Do you do commissions by the way? If so I'd love to enlist your services to make this happen.
Either way I'd love to talk more in-depth if you plan on continuing to add KF1 weapons to L4D2.
