A payphone rings, the credits roll, and it starts raining.
The payphone goes silent.
And nothing else happens.
Out of curiosity, I stepped away for 5 minutes.
Everything is the same.
In the old version of the mod, some textures or the script at the end of the game would break, but it was still passable. I don't understand what's going on here.
Yes, it's just going to take longer due to the current state of the RQ source materials, for reasons caused by the unstructured way RQ was developed over a long period of time. The recent Workshop cut I guess I could upload to moddb relatively quickly, but for the real moddb update I need to restore all the cut content that uses custom code, and unfortunately due to some mistakes I've created extra work for myself there. But yes, it is coming, as soon as I can find the time.
It's "BlockMan" by Kevin MacLeod. Except slowed down. You can listen to the original version of the song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Li8xQj-JD6I
Nah, it was ok. I don't say it was not interesting. Just had the same vibes as on the original Doom map E1M8 and that is why I was curious about it.
No....although I did make some maps for Doom a long long time ago, but no I wasn't thinking of Doom there. That fight in original form requires some custom DLL's which aren't supported on the Workshop. So for the workshop version I had to change that fight (because the original is impossible without a custom item) and it's currently just the easiest and quickest way I could make it possible again. It's a bit disappointing, so I will revisit it at some point and replace it again with something more interesting.
Thanks! I just got back my ModDB access and I will be uploading new non-Workshop Source 2013 versions of all my mods in the near future. As soon as they are all bugfixed fully. Moving to 2013 engine introduced a few problems I need to fix. Especially with the custom entities I made, I need to work a bit more on those now. But watch this space!
@Texas Steve
I see you found my discord. Send me a DM there. :-)
Same with adding subtitle support, I already have it setup for Random Quest 1 and I'd be happy to give it (although subtitles only work on standalone releases as workshop doesn't mount them unfortunately)
I've been trying to fix up the old release somewhat on Moddb myself by adding subtitles and hopefully later make a few new custom animations for certain scenes that could've fit them.
I actually emailed Kasperg a few months back about the possibilty of the map sources for either of the mods being released in hopes of using them to patch anything that went wrong since SteamPipe and to add new animations like I mentioned prior but unfortunately got no response.
Regardless really nice to see the old mods being given the care they needed and happy that you're planning on releasing them on Moddb aswell once you figure out what's going on with your account!
Not sure. There is usually audio coming from the characters. The only thing I know about that stops the sound working is certain ways of loading saved games. You're not loading a saved game, are you? Or, starting the game, then going to the menu and re-starting it? If you're not doing those things, then I'm not sure.
Yes, I'm one of those two guys! I'm in the process of fixing both of those up for workshop, too. There is still some work to do and I need to discuss something about it with the other author, who I don't see much these days. Watch this space though, they will both probably show up before long!
Ok, thank you! Though if you won't manage to finish developing it, can you still release it with custom code in whatever state you'd have it?
Eventually yeah. The main issue is, the non workshop version has a lot more maps in it. And many are still in a state too unfinished for publishing. For this workshop version, I've taken basically the 2008 release, and just added the handful of maps that got close enough to finished in my 2016 updates, without me having to do too much. Anyway, I had not looked at these maps for years until recently and I'm still working out where I am at and what I was doing back then for all the maps that are still very unfinished. But now that I have re-found the files, I am enjoying seeing them again and so I am currently thinking that I will eventually finish it in some form. And when it is done, it will be a separate release that has all the custom code etc. still there.
Can you release this version somewhere else as a mod? Really wanna try it out!
