All the other stuff has been implemented, it'll just be this and some other small bugfixes, and the update can go live!
I'll have to look more in-depth into the treasure bag bug, to see if I can reproduce it. I'll also see if I can iron out the bug with the ocarina. I do admit that it is a little janky at the moment.
If you follow the link to the source code near the bottom of the description, there is a section where you can post issues on the project's Github repo, so I can keep better track of them. I'll mark issues for the bugs already stated, but feel free to add more issues for bugs you haven't mentioned yet.
About the bug, does the same thing happen in singleplayer? What other mods are you using that you feel could be responsible? Did you have the hardmode checkpoint enabled? I'll look into it, but it will be easier to properly diagnose and patch out with more info about it.
Glad you're enjoying the mod, cheers!
I’m not sure if it would be possible but adding the song of soaring to the Ocarina of Time for use on pylons would be so cool!
To ExplodedKid: Actually, no. I didn't even know Wand of Sparking did a challenge like that until I had already finished the mod for the game jam. Other comments informed me, which led me to watching it, and that is how Wand of Sparking Mode was implemented, as a sort of "hard mode" for the cycle. It was a fun watch.
If it is enabled, it should say something like "The ancient spirits have held back the falling moon, for now" or something like that.
I'll add the MM3D timer in the next update I push, I don't see why not.
Saying goodbye, keep up the great work and try not to get too overwhelmed.
To Austin Mcballs - Do you have the Miniature Clock Tower equipped? You will need it in either your normal or vanity accessory slots. If you do and it still doesn't work, it may be a bug with the mod.
@skylerbn0718 Not to be rude, but then why are you using this mod? The resetting of your world is kind of the whole point of this mod.
In that sense, one could argue the happiness method of getting masks makes more sense, and fits better with Majora's Mask.
What if NPCs turned into their masks after hearing the Song of Healing, but only if they're happy enough? That might be a better reflection of the game's themes than 'edgy dark murder ooh'. (Just as a note, the happiness condition only applies to NPCs that are not already just creatures wearing masks, those would continue to work as before).
The mask-selling thing is more tricky. The point of having to kill your NPCs to get their masks was that 1. it was as if you were taking their spirits and 2. it was supposed to make you feel uncomfortable, as Majora's Mask is a dark game.
That being said, making it depend on happiness does bring about very interesting gameplay implications, and is definitely more effort when under a time constraint than just committing murder.
Y'know what, I'll add it in. People who want it can use it and people who don't can ignore it and use the other way.
Though, my friend and I have been playing multiplayer and have come across a pretty game-breaking bug: The days will not reset properly when playing the song and even when I did get it to reset when loading it solo (after loading the world in single player and resetting it once), it failed to produce a new "dayone" save for the character I have been using.
I'm thinking it just might be due to the update with the Dark Souls mod recently, which we've been using alongside this. Just thought I'd put this here, regardless. We've been having fun using these two mods together.
I think I'll add it as a config option for people who would rather get a conch the normal way or just not at all.
When a dungeon boss is defeated in MM, you can obtain their remains, that lets you optionally skip the dungeon and warp straight to the boss on future cycles
Since the most meaningful progression lock is getting Hardmode unlocked from defeating the Wall of Flesh, would it be possible to make a configuration option to make the Wall of Flesh have a guaranteed drop of the Demon Conch, like the Pwnhammer? This would tie in to the original dungeon skip mechanic from MM as the Demon Conch is a warp straight to hell
This would also be in line with the configuration option to optionally skip needing to defeat Plantera in future cycles to summon Golem after defeating her for the first time, since the Temple Key is a reusable item that can be kept between cycles
Maybe I'll have one of the NPCs say something about it?
With the new update, screenshake can now be lessened and/or disabled. You are not the only person who has pointed out the need for this feature, so that ended up raising its priority. It's part of the client-side config so that each player can adjust it to their own liking.
I am intrigued by the idea of custom cycle lengths, I'll definitely have to think of a way I can add that.
Glad to hear you're enjoying the mod!
It would be neat to customize how the moon phases function during the cycle. Some NPCs only sell certain items during certain moon phases.
While deviating from the source material it could be cool to see a cycle duration config, like allowing a cycle to only last 1 day or up to like 8 for a moon phase cycle. You could add in events that add time to the cycle likely not infinitely useable in the same cycle. Some mods that add more to progression make it almost impossible to complete progression in a cycle.
I am liking the mod in its current state and its future potential!
The Guide should be given some new Help lines to inform the player of how the time loop system works, as well as hinting towards the means of acquiring the Inverted Song of Time. While these functions could be put on a new NPC, I don't think this is really necessary if that's all this NPC would be for.
I doubt the thought of adding it hasn't occurred to you, but the clock UI element from Majora's Mask could be integrated as an upgrade to a gold/platinum watch. Obviously for best effect this should work from the inventory and/or void vault.
With the clock tower accessory equipped, the music should fade out before the bell chimes instead of abruptly cutting to a quite long silence before they sound if possible.
If it gets multiplayer support in future it would easily be a 10/10
