Maybe upgrading it with 1 mining laser in a central position would allow you to clear those out more easily.

Ship looks and flies and is amazing but those drills are so funky to use. Keep getting stuck unable to mine chunks that are blocking my movement to deeper ore in front of me because the drills just wont target them.
