Looks like I cant do it with clan traits. Some clan traits dont actually link to anything except for the localisation text for the effect itself. The effect is done in the unit tables.

So I will have to make Hattori (or "Iga Ninja" in the mod) units for the rest of the roster. Not doing that today but maybe this week before the holidays.

@Pechal Faction units are either vanilla, or from the original Expanded Japan mod. Hattori and Ikko are DLC armies and get more specific units than the rest because the playstyle is supposed to be different. Otherwise, the special units follow the faction flavors: Shimazu get swordsmen, Chosokabe gets bowman etc.

I do think that Hattori players should be able to put the entire army outside the deployment zone, having some units separate just sucks lol. I'll take a look today.

Yes, I knew that only units labeled as Hattori had this ability. I just dont understand whether you forgot to make all the professional units Hattori or that was the intention. Because there are Professional Hattori Yumi and Professional Hattori Yari, but there are no Professional Hattori Teppo and Professional Hattori Long Yari.

In your playstyle ranked fire works, ok. I dont often get to micro like that, usually there are just yari behind them. And if I go micro, then I'll give it a full salvo at point-blank. Okay, it still makes sense, thanks.

Yeah, AI katanas isnt really a problem. I only had one faction spamming them, the rest had the usual million samurai or yari :D AI didnt often set up Ashigaru camps to spam professional troops or others kinds of kumi (naginata, katana, long yari)

@Pechal I have a few reasons for the "all ranks fire" but basically those abilities make the ranged combat too finnicky and less smooth. Kneel fire is useless yes, but Rank Fire has the utility of changing the tempo of firing. Think about a cavalry unit charging a teppo unit: with all rank firs, the unit fires once at near max range (unless you micro it), and then the whole unit reloads, the cavalry beats the reload. On Ranked Fire, the unit starts firing at max range, but then ranks 2 and 3 will fire as the cavalry unit gets closer, resulting in progressively more kills.

And lol I havent seen a lot of AI stacking Katana Kumi. I'll set the Unit Quality lower (affects how AI recruits) for the next update.

Only the units named as special Hattori units get the guerilla deployment. I'll look sometime to see if I can get Hattori to have it with their special perks so it affects all units they recruit.

Somethings you could share to narrow the issue:
-DLCs? This mod requires FOTS and (I'm at least 90% sure) the other dlcs of vanilla Shogun such as Otomo and such.
-Are you launching via Total war's built-in launcher or directly via steam? You should use total war's launcher, launching directly from steam sometimes bugs my game out into playing without mods
-Verified integrity of files? Sometimes steam just doesnt install stuff the first time, it gets annoying but it happens.
-unsubscribe, refresh steam, then resubscribe, followed by ticking the mod on on the mod launcher as usual. Does anything happen? still doesn't work?

Its also a bit strange that mod made it so that the ENTIRE unit of teppo shoots, not just first rank. The knee fire ability is essentially useless.

Oh, I see. My AI opponent only stacked peasants with swords, and he is inherently worse than me, which is kind of annoying.
Ye I mean Hattori :D. I can definitely point at professional ashigaru teppo, professional with long yari, samurai with long yari and monks

May I ask why factions are not displayed in the game? Even after clearing the C drive and MOD folder and downloading again, it still doesn't work, and the factions in the rise of martial arts are not displayed at all. Only Ultimate Expanded Field Command V1.91 and Expanded Japan (Portugal 12-TPY) [More Clans Playable] MODs are opened

If I'm understanding correctly, the need for FOTS comes from the Portuguese units. I don't have FOTS and wasn't all that interested in getting it, and I'm generally fine not including the Portuguese units, is there a way to layer the sub mods such that I won't need FOTS?

@Pechal TBH they dont really occupy any place in the balance other than content. So instead of fielding this question once a month, I would be seeing "why are there no katana peasants" three times a month. ^_^

Which Hattori (I assume you meant that instead of Hatomi) units are not forward deployable? I made all the special faction units have it, not sure if I can use the faction perks mechanic to give it to all of Hattori's non-special units too.

Thank you for mod. May I ask: what place in the balance katana ashigaru occupy? Their stats are worse for both yari and naginata, I dont really understand it.
Its also sad that not all hatomi units have forward deploy.

@Nope there are multiple mods on the workshop called "cannon arrow sound fix" or something along those lines. Its reoccurring issue with shogun 2. It should also apply to matchlocks.
@Lenny_Froggins perhaps you should add a cannon sound fix mod to the modlist? one you find to edit your mod the least? seems the bug comes back for some others.

My matchlock ashigaru sound like artillery. I read thru everything but couldn't find anything mentioning this.

I've got a clean install and only this mod enabled. Not sure what's wrong but it's really ruining the game :(

Other than that great mod.

@Neetz First, this mod only works with the Shogun 2 campaign, and does not work with FOTS.

@Hoonting Richard Most of the fixes in the new "fix" bundle were either already fixed, inapplicable, or they are not really a bug but the developers preference. I cant remember what I changed because of it but it was really minor. I did add the battle camera settings.

@Lenny_Froggins Dear author I don't know why, but when I use this MOD of yours, the map doesn't change at all, and no additional playable factions appear, which is very confusing to me. (I only loaded this one MOD)

Did you add other mods to this? I was reading about the battle camera zoom mod and the revised shogun 2 fixes bundle. Any news? I'm using them in my collection, so if u added them to your mod i'll get a free space for a new mod XD

@Hermann Wolff I think its the Iron tradeship node that doesnt show the icon lit up but otherwise does work.

Japanese get the same +0 spear experience line. This is because of how the game databases work. You cannot delete from data.pack, only override it. So I cannot remove that tech bonus, I can only make it 0.

The reason is to elevate battlefield experience.

also for portugal i noticed that there seem to be some issues in the tech tree. in way of the spear it says +0 to all spear unit experience. is this just a description bug or does it also effect the game?

I have yet to find that out but the main issue is that i cannot trade with others as portugal even though i have a functioning trade port and merchant caravels on the trade resources( iron? and raw silk). Even when i have ships on the nodes for the resources in the diplomatic tab it says that i do not have these resources thus making it impossible to trade with other factions.

There's a bug where some resources dont Light Up the icon, I cant remember which resource. Can you use the resource to construct the buildings requiring it?

can someone fix the portugese merchant caravels as they dont give you the trade resource when you take over a trade node for some reason.

@saspekt Some people report crashes at the end of battles when loading back into the campaign screen. These crashes typically corrupt the most recent save, so it effectively ends the campaign of players using Legendary if it happens when an enemy initiates a battle during the AI Turns.

I have seen this crash happen in my games but *very* rarely. Still because of other instabilities with the mod, I manually save every 5 turns or if something great happens (like I crush the enemy in battle). Some players also report that Windows 11 is less stable than Windows 10. I use Win10 and the game is much more stable for me than some others I've talked with in the past.

And yes the other melee Kumis dont really have much value, I left them in for variety, flavor, and because people would complain. ;)

@Alex Tremo The aim in this mod is that spearmen make up the core of an army and any unit of spearmen will take *time* to defeat, unless flanked and broken. A line of spear units should be rolled up from either flank for the quickest victory.

Another thing I've done is make there be less recruitment rank bonus from buildings, technologies, and skills. So battlefield veterans are more meaningful.

There is a lot of mythologizing about the Samurai, like with the Katana. Not every new Samurai would've been a master fighter. They are feudal enforcers mainly, and if nothing else will be better equipped than Kumi or Ashigaru, and a bit better trained. It's reasonable to me that a group of pressed "militia" Kumi that have survived 4 battles will have a similar defensive stat to completely inexperienced Samurai. If you want the battle hardened master samurai, there are two higher levels: Hatamoto (elite) and No Tatsu (masters of their weapons).

Why yari kumis have too high melee defense?, they have almost the same stats than a yari ashigaru and with 4 level up, the have the asme melle defense of a yari samurai. The other kumis (sword, naginata,bow) dont have the same opportunity to have a rol in the battlefield.

@Frostyboiis TBH I never look at the marriage option, even though I did buff the mechanic a little in the diplomacy attitudes.

I'd have to play around with it a bit and see how it works. I found where to change/add bonuses/maluses for the "Ambitious Wife" (etc) type traits. I can probably figure it all out for adding new ones, too.

It's a good idea, I'll keep it in mind as we roll into the holidays.

Had a little silly idea, but is it possible to create new attributes/ modifiers for the marriage candidates/ wives? I've always found the marry function in diplomacy to be a bit underwhelming, so I was thinking maybe they could work a bit more like Fourstrider's retainers (i.e sillier or more flavorful modifiers, like the +60 armor retainer or the retainers that reference europe).

Of course, it's a bit far from the actual mod, but considering this mod is the only one that I've seen change diplomacy to the extent it does, perhaps it can be done? You'd think marrying into a clan only to murder it the next turn would cause dishonor loss or heavier repercussions, but it doesnt actually do anything. +1 morale or -1 honor is really mild, so I doubt anyone ever actually uses the marriage option, and maybe a change to this would make people care slightly more.

Are you choosing the FOTS campaign? This mod is only for Shogun 2, and the ROTS campaign works and its the same as the Shogun 2 campaign, but you can choose the other 75 factions.

He there, amazing mod so far, but i just had an event where the protugese gifted me a nanbanship because we are good allied. But no Nanban ship spawned anywhere and there is no ship listed under my fleet tab

Hey is the current version 1.89 or 1.90? I took Kyoto and held it for a year, and had realm divide triggered at the same time as campaign victory (the small-box cutscene plays and then the campaign victory cutscene play right after in the same turn). After I press continue campaign and end the turn, all non-vassals declared war on me. Is it supposed to be that way (I thought the mod disables RD)? I checked the comments and saw an update patch note 1.90 that seems to deal with RD triggering, but the steam workshop page and the mod manager still shows it as 1.89

@Jericho Get Rusted Packfile Manager (RPFM). Set the install location for Shogun 2 and then select it from RPFMs dropdown menus as the active game. Now you should be able to go File > Open From Content > Lennys_UltimateFieldCommand.

Go into db, then delete the folder "projectiles_trails_tables."

That should revert the trails back to the vanilla values.
