Interesting idea though for a mission chain. If you make it through alive,you get an extra mission where if you don't die there either you get the Ultra Blaster 5000 or so :-D

The only way to detect if a player dies is via a PDA action that checks if the player health becomes 0. That will trigger when a player dies, then you could have it use a dialogue as its complete message that sets a variable to show the player died. Would be janky though since it would require adding an optional action to every task of the mission where you need to check if the player dies, and they could always deactivate the mission to avoid it triggering when they die.

well it depends. if there's a death flag or not. if not, it depends on what a quest can recognize, if it can recognize buffs, then a buff given at the start of the quest that is removed when you die would mean you can't clear the optional rewards that you only get when finishing with the buff active. which would be nice cause then you can give rewards at each step so its not as bad if you only die later in it. other then that I'd say a quest item that auto fails the quest step if you drop it but then that means people who are playing in no inventory loss or keep hotkey bar can cheat so that's not the best solution either...

lol Fylas! Yes, lots of movie/80's references in my scenario. I'm not sure how to implement a bonus for not dying, but that would be cool.

thanks for this, i wanted to like star salvage but their specialization system was just not fun for me. liking this so far... kinda wish you could take over the space station start once you clear it out... those switches are sneaky. ah well maybe theres a neat junkyard to co-opt... side note the mulititools in the space start ask for salvaged multi tool ammo but spawns with standard... mentioning in case over site as i just switched em out with item menu as it seemed so.

Yep! I was just working on quests this morning. The development version of the scenario now loads without errors, has all of the new blocks, and no "Continue or Quit" messages. That feels good. Slowly working on it.

Btw, a T2 tool as a fixed loot drop in the station's command center would be nice.
The farming blocks is painfully long. And the regular tool uses scavenged
charges, not regular ones, so the ones that are found down in the station
are not compatible. (but they could be usefull with a T2 fixed drop,hint-hint)

Otherwise, this scenario needs zero change, and should really stay this way
up till now, since people that seek challenge can enjoy.
Do not make it easier for any reason, plz. If they want easier they can
play on Akua or something.
Too many scenarios get made easier by complaining people.

I escaped using flight inversion while in the station, using max up thrust
to gain speed fast and away, with just a barely charged shield.
Getting to the planet was easy after that. They can't match speed with an SV.
Maybe that should change ? (hint) CV's should have greater top speed.


I mean a nice addition would be a chase towards the planet,
using the SV's greater agility, while the CV corvettes chase it..

Heh, I Riddicked it. (Chronicles of Riddick, movie reference)
The station's personel is no more, the only problem now is
a few corvettes that follow me everywhere, but I'm building
a nice gun platform to deal with those. I just hope they don't
keep spawning infinitely, I'd go bankrupt on the shield refills.
Btw, the easiest way to get more penta is by filling the small SV tank
at the station, and then transferring it to the gun platform.


It's hard at first, but with a few tries (more like 10) it's doable.

Yes the SV had a shield too with just barely enough penta to take just a few blows, but that's enough to escape with. Just fly out, invert, and step on the gas while making random moves with the mouse to change course all the while increasing distance from the attacking ships, and with 20 medium down thrusters, getting max speed not a problem not even when fully loaded.

Guess what ? I almost iron man-ed it. The exactly LAST inhabitant of the initial space station shotgunned me though. I was perplexed. had the SV built already with 20K cargo, 30 large thrusters, dozens of small ones, double RCS, the works.. I thought I still had room for more, and so, let's try and take some more, going countdown, 7 enemies left, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, oh ship !! Shipperdashipperdashipperendestship ! But it is worthy !!!
Trying again today.
With the new AI the Zirax tend to move more rapidly and more efficiently, but still dumb a little, except that last commander, I think it was.
I found some spices already though, drop rate abysmal, but that's life.

Thank you, ZMacZ. Glad you enjoyed the space start. That was fun to design. The solar battery is based on the same battery from Star Salvage. I'll have to test it again. Spice plants should be in the loot tables normally. I didn't remove them.

I did play the space starter scenario, man, that slew of Zirax ! Pain.
Then again, it was fun getting past them. The reinforcement vessel
got me on that one. I had no clue it was gonna follow me all that way out.
And BOOM! literally cockpit gone, half the ship too, me going "wth?!?"
I was busy farming a wreck, never saw it coming.

I just gotta ask, are there any spice plants in the random distribution list ? I have went far and wide now, and yet, no spice nor spice plants. Then again..maybe it was meant that way ?
Also, you can make it harder by making the planet into a dustbowl, with no resources from digging, only the sparse rocks. Not that that would stop me, I always play iron man style.

The solar power conversion 15PU battery is not accepted by anything. It's also a bit weird in that it doesn't cost anything but power to produce. Even batteries should cost something ? I like the concept though. I usually farm fibres and then turn them into chem fuel, but this is more direct. Too bad it doesn't work right now, I had a small constructor on repeat making them, since I have lots of solar power. It may even make sense to get a base for the sole purpose of infinite battery production this way. Maybe even space bases, then again, I can't make any starter blocks of any kind, so, I'd need to find some maybe ? I haven't actually gone into space yet with this scenario. Second run. First went pretty much ok until the base blasted my HV into smithers single shot.

It could be experimental caused it because I played without scenario, and I got error continue or quit as well before it became public release. I haven't play after this yet.

Othar: I've been testing the scenario on Eleon's experimental code release, and I keep getting "Continue or Quit" errors when I start a new game. This is bad news, as the error message is generic. It doesn't tell me exactly what's causing the problem. I have to figure out why it's broken, then figure out how to fix it, then test it, and release a patch. Once experimental is done and the code is released as the new stable version, if I haven't fixed it by then, everyone will get error messages. I am hoping it's as simple as adding the new blocks/prefabs/entities/idmappings. If I can't figure it out, I may use this opportunity to rebuild the entire scenario from scratch, using the new code as a base.

So, uh, yeah. That's the news. :steamsad:

Thanks for the feedback, Cinna! Good points all around. That's what I need to hear: constructive feedback, to make the scenario better. Overall, this is my own little story that I'm writing, just for fun, inspired by the main game, Star Salvage, and RE. Creating this also helps me learn how the game works behind the scenes, which is another thing that I enjoy. I'm creating new content, then after I get that done, I'll go back and work on the bug list. (Creating is more fun than bug fixing!)

Othar: I worked on the next version for a while, then I took a break to play some other games. After working on it every day, sometimes 8-12 hours a day, I needed a break! I don't want to get burned out. :steamhappy: Good news is I'm back in it. There are some new things coming soon that I can't talk about yet. Stay tuned!

a month without update... :steamsad: so sad.. i know you do what you can on your free time... but ... BUT !!!! need my dose... btw, i hink the problem of the 'always use fuel' of the CV shield Addon need to be on top of your list.. this makes them virtually unusable

Feedback - Positive:
I really enjoyed the starter planet with all the amazing bases to fix. The POI's throughout the quests were very welcomed, a combination of it being beginner along with the armour & weapons felt fun to do, instead of being murdered with basic armour and basic weapons in a zirax poi.
Sarducci's was a breath of fresh air when it came to having a visually appealing trader as well.
I saw an interesting wrecked Cv I'd been thinking for many years while playing star salvage "I wish those/that was a wreck too!"
Overall I stand by saying it's well done. It has all been very well done.

Feedback - Negative:
Tier 2 Salvage Combo Tool & Tier 3 Salvage Combo Tool (from the item menu) is verry underwhelming when needing to plink away at something with high Hp.
Maybe there are traders I haven't found yet who sell standard Multi tool

Feedback - What I'd like to see:
Sv options, Long Range Warp Drive, Shield Capacitors, more Auto turrets, Oven, etc. the ability to have a Sv be able to warp around space, be a great fighter, be able to do things, but needing the Cv mothership to carry the heavy loads, or be a tank when needed with its hit point values per block vs a Sv once shields are down.

It feels like a modern Star Salvage in the making, and that's great. (Always wished star salvage crossed with reforged eden, with edens amazing planet variations, but star salvages salvage side)

yeah looks like some core categorization issues, you would probably have a better time reclassifying it to a similar item to the cpu compressors in salvage. btw how did you get the drone that looks like the fallout mister handy to not t pose all the time when moving?
