If nothing else, it won't feel wasted, I'll promise that, looool.
Like I said... not 100% if it is too much. I think Triumph avoided straight damage increase enchants like this at T4 for a reason, they probably did not want to find out themselves.
Danke für die lieben Worte, das freut mich zu hören.
Every question is allowed here ;)
Looks like this time the update didn´t destroyed every tome mod.
I just tested every single thing of this tome and all worked fine.
So you can start a new playthrough without fear.
I made Japanese translation mod :)

Actually now I´m happy that this tome is completely done (besides some possible balance changes maybe)
So currently I have no plans, not even ideas for future tomes tbh
A simple man, as I am too xD
So I answered your call for more crystals.
Units and crystal armor stuff is done by the DLC, so here now you get a crystalline battlefield summon for your racial battlemages only. Hope ya enjoy!
You see ^^ (sorry for the frequent changes of my last post)
It´s not that I don´t liked your idea myself completely
But sadly the geomancy skin has 1 of the cons I metioned and tried to avoid,
it is not possible to have both, this new and the earthkin race transformation.
I would have loved to combine both and my tome ^^"
And that´s why I´m super happy with my choosen path. Yeah it has some similarities to runemagic, but that´s intended.
As the new giant king dlc brings you exactly what you decribed you want to see:
big crystal monsters, race transformation with crystals coming out of your units...
I would be pretty sad if I would have done this, just to be replaced by the official devs work.
Btw. as far as I know these "strong changes" are only possbile by race transformations, making the effect limited to the race. I like to view the crystal magic as something true magical, not biological, so I stayed away from race transformations. There are already a bunch of cool RTs like f.e. earthkin (what you meant with rock skin?) and I feared to "overload" the units and don´t want to replace these cool stuff with mine.
BUT as I said, please stay tuned, I´m working on big crystals comming to the battle field... just in a different way. Too much of the same is boring ;)
As I expected you now get more crystals with the giant king dlc. This tome centers around the use of crystals to enhance your magic, not to be or become crystal yourself.
Also there are already enough units, that´s why I don´t plan to add more.
However I do have an idea to give you more crystals, stay tubed ;)
However dear Users, please inform me if you happen to find any issues, thx.
I´m sorry to hear that, but honestly this is not possible. I just made the screenshots with the most recent version of this mod and as you can see it works as intended as a teleporter.
Nonetheless I also looked into the data and tested it again: With the same result: It works as a Teleporter, no Spell Jammer.
Just to be on the save side: you know you must have a 2nd teleporter to make teleporters work right?
The only thing possible for your case is that maybe another mod changes something in the base-data related with teleporters and this then effects my mod. If you can figure ou the source you can try to change the load order of the mods.
For one off tome: if something comes to my mind I feel is missing, sure.
I think the changes you've made are great.
Thanks again for taking feedbacks so seriously.
Also to be a bit more focused, I decided to reduce the other enchantment, crystalline weapons to the 4 core melee units. because it don´t makes sense to let archers shoot away your precious crystals!
However I´m very thankful for your input, the last 3 days I heavily reflected on this and my vision for the tome
I´m not sure if you miss-read it, but the enchentments reflects NON-Physical damage only, not physical.
I thought about your idea a bit, but as you said yourself - crystals are not good for physical protection as they will shatter too easy. Also there is already a nice modded tome that adds a physical damage reflection enchantment (Tome of the Rock Giants).
So in short: I think I´ll stay with the non-physical reflection, sorry.
As I originally created this tome for my humble self, I also need to look for my "need", and in my usual materium tome way the shield units are cared for pretty well, so a shield focus sadly isn´t convincing either :( sorry. (even if a non-physic reflecting, blinding shield with reduced defense sounds kinda cool too, but as I said: to limited for my own use...)
That way you have an enchantment that will make your shield units distinctly unique and better at frontlining against most things, with a slight gap against archers.
My suggestion would be to focus it a bit more.
As it is it's a bit too broad so you'll either have to make it too weak or too strong in every cases.
If I was you, I'll try to make it a bit more focused and thematic which would help with balancing and the identity of your tome.
It could be something like "Crystal Shield", and enchantment that only apply to Shield units (a class that's often left in the dust), it would allow you to make a very striking visual with the shield of the units use a crystal texture and fx.
Now that the scope of what's impacted is narrower you'll be able to increase the potency of the effect now that its a bit narrower.
You could make it so that it reflects 25% of physical damage MELEE attacks (it's pretty hard to reflect arrow, and it would totally obliterate all the archer units in the game), and have 50 chance of blinding magical attacker.
First cool Name and thx ;)
In general I try to avoid making this tome too much Allrounder-like, so I personally don´t plan to add a normal damage spell.
Maybe I could change the additional lightning damage of the crystal shard storm to 1 of each type; this way referencing to the cosmic spray you mentioned.
But to be honest I was kinda struggling with how to represent pure magic damage. Crystal magic is centered around connection of pure magic and material. So even if I don´t like it myself that much - from what I was able to figure out (at least starting with AoW3) the pure form of magic is associated with lightning damage. While the cosmic spray spell combines all forms of magic.
Thx for your feedback. Balancing is pretty difficult so I appreciate your words.
Though I looked to other enchantments inflicting a status and there where (even for low tiers) mostly with very high chance (mind 60%)
Also the only damage reflecting I found was 50%.
So I basically more then halfed both and put them together. Also my testing showed that the damage reflected is only non physical so if it happens usually 1-3 damage is reflected (reflected in this game means it´s still damaging your unit but is also damaging the enemy).
What´s your suggestion?
Fun idea: add the Prismatic Spray from previous AoW installments.
A shower of random element beams damaging an area.
It's based of off Jack Vance's Tales of Dying Earth Excellent Prismatic Spray spell.^^
Astral Interference sound a bit too strong tho ngl.
Looking forward for some feedback to balancing etc.
I also was thinking about it, but thematically it wouldn´t make much sense.
This tome centers around pure astral magic attuned crystals (which are purest results from materium magic). It´s about these two opposites and how to use them. Bringing this INTO a races body would pollute the whole fragile construct.
I visioned Astral Interference more as thin crystal plates integrated into the robes or armors of units, interacting with magic and reflecting some of it, when it comes in contact. Like a prism crystal breaks and reflects the light.
Also later I liked the idea that it might be a bit struggling to deal with the high upkeep cost, reflecting the high maintenance necessary to keep something so opposing together and working.
But maybe I´m to stiff with my understanding of the race transformation concept?
Anyway I will have a look on feedback and if it makes sense implement it.
There is sooo much already covered by other amazing mods.
Maybe I will get a creative flash again some time... but for now I don´t feel anything is missing anymore
But I get it you've achieved what you were aiming for and now you can enjoy the fruits of yout labour in game.
My biggest work and most likely my last.
I had this vision since I started this game and to realise it was my sole reason for learning the modding system of this game ^^"
will maybe get some updates though
