Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) passed by perihelion on Jan 13, 2025. But its max brightness is only about -3.7 mag.

Since the problem is a not compatible .pak file, if you don't .pak the catalog, it should work indeed.

SpaceEngine .pak files must be renamed .zip files with standard ZIP compression as per SpaceEngine online manuals. This looks like a RAR compressed file.
There could be other issues, if you're not sure ask in Discord servers, lots of modders there

Hey just wanted to let you know I think there may a bug, so like I said when I got it and searched for the comets in the addon they weren't in the database, so I tried copying and pasting the addon file into the addons folder, but that isn't working either, so I feel like there is some bug so you may wanna fix that, just letting you know.

are you able to add Comet Bernardinelli-Bernstein? space engine doesnt have it in game despite it being discovered around 2014 or so.
