@The360MlgNoscoper That's perfectly understandable.

This game has such cool ideas though. I don't think I've built underwater cities since "Civilization": Call to Power. The Variant Ages allow imaginative, novel scenarios, but it loses its appeal because the gameplay experience is bound too tightly to the Age progression mechanic. If you're really enjoying the Age of Heroes, remember that most, if not all of the AI "players" are actively trying to abort it after only researching half the technologies. And even if they aren't pressuring you because they're somehow still in the Stone Age, you've always got your own Knowledge Point countdown timer ticking down, and unfortunately this clock doesn't have a snooze button.

@The360MlgNoscoper When making this mod, did you by chance determine if it's possible to potentially repeat ages, such as Age of Heroes -> Age of Heroes, or Age of Heroes -> Age of Blood -> Age of Heroes -> (and so on) until someone decides to advance to the Standard Iron Age? In other words, this mod allows you to chose any variant from the next Age without restrictions, but is it technically feasible to offer variants within the same age, or have only standard ages advance civilization?

I'm sure I could figure this out myself, but I'd grow tired of the game in the process. Having to start a new game to test even small tweaks to mods is a tedious flaw in this software, so if you already have the answer, I'd like to benefit from that. As far as I can tell, despite the dev suggesting otherwise, you can only reduce the knowledge points of the currently played faction using the console, so a mod is the only workaround besides making every faction human.

@chrisjevans1234 Old Ones is an age that can trigger int he age of heresy, if you fail to stop the crisis. It's a final age, meaning you can't progress after it, you either win or lose. It is also miserable to play.

just realized that age of old ones Linkart stated might actually be an age in the game for timelines and not what I thought he was asking. Is old ones a age in the timeline because knowing if it is would clarify things and would help me understand what you meant as the comment I mentioned earlier.

To sum it up I am in no means able to figure out of to change raw code without someone telling me what code to change. I am only able something similar in Microsoft Exell version 2019.

I am hoping to do enable age of one like Linkart stated in on March 18th this year. The problem is I only know how to code in Scratch, and haven't done any sense before 2019. I learn it in a educational class in high school. I did what you recommended in the Comment I you did to Linkart back on March 19th. they are both going to be on the second page of the comments for this mod. I am interested in how the mod worked previously.

I am by no means a coder other than in Scratch which I haven't done in sense before 2019 and I have no practice sense the end of the class I took as a soft-more in high school I had my high school graduation back in 2019.

how do I find the line of what I assume is code that re allows this mod to allow to do previous ages? I just downloaded this mod and I am having trouble finding where the mod is stored on by default so I can do the thing you said would re allow the game to do previous ages.

Just wondering, is Each nation tied to the same Age hard-coded, or can you break the chain making unique games were some nations have plagues and you can choose your policy by reacting to every other nations political, and Situations caused by the ages. you can offer diplomatic help. isolate yourself, isolate them if you have more 4x their army, declare them a scourge to eliminate all whom has been affected. and prob many more reactions and actions you can do just by unbinding nations tied to the same age.

@Linkart I disabled it intentionally because of it's weird status, and to prevent the ai from randomly entering it. It's the type of thing you only play once then don't really want to do again. If someone makes a mod that changes it substantially it would change things. Also, it's meant to be a kind of easter egg anyways, so just making it easy to enter would complicate things. And I also think that when i first made the mod the game UI couldn't handle more than 4 potential next ages at the same time, and it was the lowest priority to keep.

Though you could re-enable it by removing the >TECHAGE6_CRISISHERESY-TECHAGE7_CRISISOLDONES_ADVANCE_REMOVE< tag from the Age6CR Deck.

A crisis only mod has been on my mind and would be quite simple to do. I could probably make one if i got into modding Millennia again.

How do I enable the age of old ones? Are you able to make a mod that forces only crisis ages?

@CN--sheep It's a minor visual issue. Ages appear locked until you have enough technologies to unlock them, then they appear as normal.

@napamathguy there isn't any save for being ahead of the ai. Take note of which age the ai is in. They might get stuck several ages behind you, especially since the AI struggles with variant and crisis ages.

To rephrase/clarify: There's the normal timeline, the variant timeline, the crisis timeline, etc.

While I'm exploring the various timelines (3rd Age, for instance), what's to stop the AI from completing the requirements to advance to the 4th Age and cut short my fun?

will check it out but the locks on the other options were red in color where the crises one was silver or the normal color run into. may have been a visual only but on the plague one had the requirements and was ready to move but only got the one option. Be a while before test as have to finish current game. thanx for response.

jsnider193 did you research the required technology count to enter the next age? It displays as if the other ages are locked until you have the technology count, then all are open. It's purely visual.

Try double checking this. This mod should only have issues with mods that change how tech progression works.

Hi, not using any slow speed mods but this mod forces me into one of the critical ages even though have requirements to enter age of heroes. In another play it forced me into the Plague age (had plenty of sanitation and no count showing). Only mods using are the ones that increase road distance and city separation. Once finish the current game might try this with no other mod but it seems that it and other mods might not play nice.

Which slow speed mod are you using? PresidentWHitmore's version changes certain age requirements, so it seems likely that's the conflict origin.

age of alchemy also lets me move to other ages. It seems it is just the age of enlightenment that forces me to go to age of ignorance. I am profoundly confused

hey, idk if i am doing something wrong or if there is a mod conflict. I 360 something turns into a game using the ultimate slow speed mod along side this one and I made it to the age of enlightenment but I am locked out of progressing from any future age other than the age of ignorance. I loaded an older save and if I go through the age of heresy I can then progress to other future ages but I cant find any other solution. If anyone has any advice on what I could do it would be greatly appriciated.

sirkerry the Age of the Old Ones follows on directly from failing to stop the heretics in the Age of Heresy - it's not a choosable Age like the others. It's a lot of fun though!

@sirkerry it doesn't seem to fit in the age transition menu when all the other ages are also accessible, it has weird requirements and is really just a gimmick age. If i had kept the normal way to access it it would be an exception to the "no locking" rule. In addition you'll really only go for it one time anyways, since it's not really fun to play in and ends the game early. It also would make the achievement way too easy.

Yeah, Ive tested another game with Open beta selected for launch and its working just fine. It seems that bug appears only when you launch the game in standard mode.

@Johnson The bug does not happen on my end. I am however using the Beta Branch. Are you using the standard branch?

Switching to beta might fix the issue.

Heya, after the last patch Ive encountered the same bug as when using the My Timeline mod. Basically when you pass from Age of Discovery to Age of Alchemy, there is one turn when the arcana is spawning on the map but you don't actually advance at the Age of Alchemy and the next turn you change the era but you cannot spawn any alchemists to harvest the arcana.
