The mod is really nice and well-made, but it is also responsible for causing some massive periodic lag spikes the longer you are tile scanning on a world, to the point where they last about 5 seconds each, which is especially annoying during combat. I suppose it coincides with the world synchronizing to disk. So it is nice feature-wise, but not really suitable for exploration, as the game will just become laggier as you explore more.

never getting update but consider maybe adding a circular displa of the planet so you can get an idea of where you build like if you want to terraform a planet so the poles are ice bergs an dhave the middle of the planet be more arid

you could create a mod to remove items after death, its working principle is quite simple, but it would give a completely different approach to the game, if all items from the inventory were completely removed after death, it would create a positive circulation of weapons and armor, which would equalize the balance of resources and items in large modpacks

im reaching out to modders of starbound that are still active and have experience with the UI types of mod

can you mod a search function to
personal inventory

a search function to the quest journal and add a few quick tabs for sorting quest into type
cooking
fossil hunting
bounty
ect

and i'm not sure if this has been done but add planet info/ location to quests
so that you don't have to go back and forth like a yo-yo

also it would be great to have some way of marking quests...
so people can tick them off as done, but not yet handed them in / not yet complete

the teleport menu is another UI that also needs a search function and some way of sorting them into tabs
planet types
city/outposts
a way of marking them as a home world or colony, farm or mine

I wanted to know if it is possible to change the size of the chunk to be scanned. If so, even if this results in performance within the game, is there a possibility of creating new selectable chunk sizes? 32x32 64x64 128x128 256x256 etc...
So how is it done with zoom? And if it is possible to change the size of the scanned chunk, would it also be possible to autoscan the entire planet? Logically it would be a use, only for admin mode.

I find the performance is pretty good on xStarbound, maybe because of its Lua engine is in latest version. And this only scan blocks around player, so is very OK.

Yes! I've added a change log, and the next update will make things more configurable~

Yes~ map scanning has a fairly significant impact on game performance, so I've set the default to Off so that you can familiarize yourself with the features that turn it on and off!

yes. it is off by default. just noticed the 4.0 update adding entity tracking! very nice, kinda wish there was a change log somewhere on this post!

I'm xStarbound user, I find tile scanning is off by default, and map is empty, is this the expected behavior? I have to manually turn on tile scanning to use it?

Hopefully it'll be compatible with xStarbound too! (They are built off the same base, and the author does prioritize compatibility, so it should be fine).

Due to a weird bug in Starbound, displaying interface corners by default and dragging interfaces can't co-exist, and there's no feature to get the biome at the current position, but both can be implemented with oSB features, so I'll probably have to create an additional add-on mod. :steamhappy:

could you adjust it so that the small map default appears where it used to in the corner while still being able to be dragged around? also, the little bit of black bar along the top of the minimap could be the perfect position to list whatever biome you're currently standing in.

I've patched it, but I've yet to use xSB so I'm not sure if it's fixed. “close” is the default game callback, but I think they changed something in xSB.

Hi! So, I've been trying to use this mod for a bit, but I've been running into a crash with it when using xStarbound as an engine. The author said that it was because a close button was not properly formatted

- "The modder of the minimap mod forgot to put in a `"close"` button. xStarbound expects that."

I also have a pastebin post that shows the entire crash stack trace whenever the bug does indeed occur.

Doesn't the minimap work in the other world?
On the big minimap interface, there is a button to toggle tile(map) scanning. Turning on scanning has a noticeable game performance impact, so I've added an option to toggle it on and off, with the default set to off.

@Major Poison Stardust Core and Stardust Core Lite do NOT play well with each other, and either one would work. Making one of them a dependence would make it feel like the other can't be used, unless mentioned in the description.

I used your minimap in my shipworld but it didnt work, the interface only showed a few green pixel in the center. Is it just me or it is set to be not functional in a shipworld? my ship is VERY huge, about 800+ blocks in length.:zote:

@namuli I installed Stardust Core Lite and it’s working now. If you don’t plan to make the sidebar feature base in this mod, then you should include Stardust Core Lite as a dependence

Is there a log file where the error occurs? It worked fine for me in multiplayer testing, so I don't know what's causing it. (˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ )

Adding extra zoom levels would require a lot of code modifications, so it will take some time. For now, I've added a 1/4 zoom because the code is written to only work with integer scale zooms. ( ´・ω・)

This seems like a great mod, Ive seen lots of happy people with it. But for me It dosnt seem to work. The mini map is just blank and has the green dot to show that I am there. Now I do use 100+ mods but I cant think or find a mod that would affect it. and because I can you make the X button bigger and it not close when I click Esc. and another thing wow I suck, on the hotbar mini map it shows different cords then the hand held one, is there a reason for that?
