The last comment must have a conflicting mod of some sort. This mod 100% works for me.

@fossil99ca Sometimes when it flicks to action the action takes so little time with the picture in the way it's hard to quite see whats going on

I get it may work for some people but why? why don't you like the art? why would you rather stare just at your men and sometimes the passing alien when you can just see the art?

Excellent idea. I've tried it out and sometimes the splash screen still bleeds in, but only about 15~% of the time.
