Ok, I've tried it again as vanilla as it gets (no mods, on Altis) and vehicles do spawn in and fight even autonomous helicopters, it simply takes a bit of time. I thought the vehicles were bugged because they spawned empty in the base; I simply didn't know those are supposed to be for you and the AI spawns vehicles for itself and 'teleports' them close to the AO.
It still feels a bit lonely though!

Hi Sunbarter. if Autonomous AI is se to Balanced (default) then AI operated vehicles are spawned for both sides.

May I ask if the friendly AI uses vehicles in this? So far I have only seen the enemy AI using vehicles.
