Follow this guide [github.com] for a step by step tutorial
Can you please tell me what goes into the "Run Command" box to make this work?
Thanks!
You can scale your image up to match your monitor's resolution
You can upload your own custom image or video: go to "Background" > "Use custom background"
It’s possible that your PC shutting down corrupted the wallpaper you were using.
Try loading a different wallpaper from the Workshop first. If that one works, uninstall and reinstall the wallpaper that’s giving you the black screen.
If you want to keep your previous settings, click “Share JSON” under the wallpaper’s settings and copy the code — it contains all your custom configuration, so you can paste it back after reinstalling.
If none of that works, check the log file at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\log.txt
It might show what’s going wrong.
Try disabling the initial fade-in effect in the "Animations & Effects" section and see if that works.
The custom background feature is very cool, but it's a shame that the clock and media player obscure it.
Is there a resource you know of that I could use to better understand the process? (That or a way to dumb it down to my level)
I’ve recently added the ability to bind shortcuts to the buttons (scroll down to User Shortcuts in the wallpaper options). If you know what you’re doing, I’ve created a GitHub repo that can help by simulating button presses via CMD. You can find the link in this wallpaper’s description.
1. Install the BetterNCM plugin for NetEase.
2. In BetterNCM, download and enable Inflink.
3. Open SMTC via DOM inside Inflink: this forces NetEase to send the song data to Windows, so Wallpaper Engine can display it.
Thank you so much for enjoying the wallpaper!
I’ve just updated it and added full support for Thai language. If you notice anything still missing or broken, feel free to let me know.
Unfortunately, the resolution of the album cover depends entirely on the music streaming app you’re using. Wallpaper Engine just receives the data (including the cover) from the app, so if Tidal sends a low-res image, there’s no way to improve it on my end. Spotify provides higher quality covers, so that’s why it looks better with it.
As for the buttons, there’s no way to make them control external music apps. They would only work for songs that are actually imported inside the wallpaper project itself, which doesn’t really make much sense for a music visualizer that’s supposed to follow external playback.
Hope that clears things up!
