@Dar_No2 you wanna take a look at the alarmtruppen's, the officer is not preventing them from retreating as it should, instead alarmtruppen is just caught in the loop of not retreating and retreating.

@Atlantis: You are quite right on that! Word of advice: more than AI difficulty, choice of map matters. Start small, and go for maps with corridors and open fields. Only attempt 3v3 or 4v4 maps with 2 human players or more.

also one more thing, don't think you are built different after hearing what i said, you the player, are not exempt from this nugget of wisdom, trust me, this gamemode will shock and suprise you otherwise

@Dar_No2 okay thank you for the input :) btw if you guys are new to Festung, highly recommend to play on easy and work you way up as you get better with your defensive strategies. seriously guys this is entirely different beast to tame, your typical way of playing the game, modded or not, will go out the window and you had to approach this from scratch so as to stay revalent, try to play with random and it does not end well. besides that this "gamemode" for the mod is seriously adding more replayability and i recommend you giving it a shot, just make sure you know what you getting yourself into.

Hi @Atlantis, always go 1:1. Two players, two AI, if it’s just you, then get a single AI to oppose you. The amount and quality of stuff they throw at you goes up with difficulty.

I can tell I'm going to enjoy this mod a-lot, but I have a question (or rather advice), when I wanted to play it co-op, what is the ideal number of a.i. in festung? is it the same number of players or is it going to be half the players playing?

Hi @Bobsemplethetank, unfortunately I can't reproduce the issue. All icons are showing on my end. Sometimes Steam Workshop messes up a download. I have uploaded a hotfix which should trigger a re-download of the tuning pack. If that doesn't solve the issue, please try to unsub-delete-resub both the tuning pack and the win conditions.

Oh btw maybe this is early but the icons for the new commanders are broken/missing. Unit models themselves are okay but the icons are missing.

Hi @IceMan I’m glad you enjoy it! The commanders in Festung and Bridgehead are curated and tightly balanced for the mode. Many “regular” doctrines don’t necessarily bring the right tools for an interesting defense.

That said, I occasionally add new commanders to Festung and Bridgehead, with their own unique rosters. Update 1.8 just dropped with 4 new doctrines for Ostheer and OKW each.

@Elindaor this can indeed occur on custom maps that either have no pre-placed Victory Points or use some alternative Victory Point entity provided by a mod or asset pack.

@Tech Mom, not sure if this is any help but I have the same issue using certain maps that don't seem to have preset Victory points, showing stars on the map previews in the lobby, as I only notice the issue on a select few custom maps but never a issue with the base game and select few modded I play with friends.

@Tech Mom, that’s not intended behavior, points should only begin to tick down when losing all VPs. I will investigate it

I got the same happening to me as Dac. losing points when losing any single point on a huge map is not playable

Hi Balthazar, there are three options for preparation and attack timer available, which are tuned for balance. Do you suggest changes like longer preparation phase?

@Dac: This is of course not intended behaviour. Unfortunately I can not reproduce it in some initial testing. Could you provide some information on your game setup? Which map, which factions, are you on Team 1 or Team 2? Also, does it occur when you control 1 out of three VPs or right away when you still hold all three?

You say it's supposed to be a defense mode, yet I start losing tickets as soon as the combat phase begins. Even though I have at least one victory point under my control. This mode is practically unplayable because I immediately lose within the first few minutes of combat starting.

@amazingdxge: I‘m glad you enjoy it. I tried to provide much replayability with the amount of commanders, defensive tools, and a good variety of enemy „divisions“. Porting the framework to the allied side is not easily done. The mode has a historical concept and features tailored to the axis. It’s not impossible, but an Allied Wave Defense would require faction specific custom briefing scripts, defensive commanders and axis wave configurations. All in All an effort of about 3 months that I don’t have. Currently it is not planned.

You really should make it viable for allies aswell since this gamemode is incredibly fun, a wave defense for any map is amazing. And if you are able to make it compatible for allied factions there will be way more replayability.

@Avenger: Unfortunately that is not possible. The AI does not understand the objectives and has no idea how to set up defenses properly.

Correct. The concept of the game mode is an Axis Defense in the late war setting. Allied armies would require different briefing scripts and such.
