Yes, you can add it to current saves. It will only take effect once you jump to a system you've not been to yet though.

I would assume not and I going to test it anyway, but can this mod be added to running saves even though I'm literally the only person who's going to add it to a current save?

@Dahak, you need to grind them down. They should then drop all their contents

Any way to give them an airlock so you can actually loot the things? More often than not I find the storage pods drop one or two things and thats it.
