I've made a huge back end update that now gives the feds and klinks cruiser tech at the start instead of changing ship requirements. I don't know what effect this will have on save games, but will ensure mod compatibility.

Ahh, good old balancing issues. I had considered those (just not this specific one), but as this mod is extremely narrow in scope, I figured it would be a non-issue.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate you bringing this up. I may make balancing part of a bigger mod project at some point, depending on how much the game fights my efforts. My latest mod for example was supposed to make cruisers a starting tech instead of changing the cruiser hull's requirements. I spent a good 7 hours (no exaggeration) last night and this morning with nothing but crashes before I gave and went with the latter option.
So yeah, if I encounter that kind of resistance to every change, then such a mod won't happen. Otherwise, we'll see in the next week or two.

I was more bringing it up because someone mentioned unlocking more ships later down below. Pointing it out because it'd be an oversight to unlock the say D'deredex and not any power systems.

That's odd. This mod does nothing with the Romulans, I mean at all.

iirc when I was playing romulans my power systems weren't strong enough to support more than one large phaser bank or somesuch. I'd have to go look again and see what's up.

@Ranger_Savage oh I don't know about that. My Excels are doing a pretty good job at tearing up the Cardie's ships in the first 15 years of wars they start with me lol! Don't even need anti-matter recycling, just plain old fusion reactor and starting weapons. Even better if I use the starting tech mod that gives torpedoes.

Cruisers and the last class of ships basically require tier 3 power systems to run any weapons, so they'd probably not work if unlocked anyway.

@uwot if there's enough demand (i.e. a couple of posts) for it, I will make a mod that makes cruiser tech a starting tech for all races.
