You can turn the key on the top right of the right control board to retract the gears, but the reason that the gears are like that is to avoid them collapsing in a low phys enviorment.

i mean that it doesnt even retract in the body.

Do you mean that it doesnt have 2 pivots? If so then the reason that is is so that it doesnt collapse in low phys/MP.
