But I use a few mods in my load order that are "flagged as possibly not compatible". I try my best to verify whether they will still run and make my best guess. If I'm not sure, I just stop using a mod and look for another similar mod and start supporting that mod. Better to have a stable game playthrough than to include a cool mod that might self destruct my save file during gameplay.
Would I like every single mod to clarify if they modify the checksum? Yes! Best case scenario it would be a checkbox that you can toggle, would make browsing the workshop so much easier, but as there is no such thing, we could all agree to use the next best thing, and I don't see why it would be such a problem, or why it merits a rude response.

neither do orbital rings, but in OR's case it works by giving the illusion that a hab IS also a starbase
i'm guessing you have the custom ambient object set to 0.15 for planets @borsk?
if it suits you you could make another specifically for habitats at... I think 0.3?
a shield around a hab looks pretty cool
