@veveveve if you use this mod then there is no forced percept "Mushroom Hate" that is persist in every vanilla ideology by default. It means that your colonists (and everybody in the world) will automaticly be ok about shrooms in every new save

If I choose the mushroom preference doctrine, eating vegetables other than mushrooms will lower my mood. What happens if I choose this mod?

idk what mod I had that gave me "Don't Care" for fungus, but it wasn't working at all.

No swet Rince, I've done my share of personal mod updates and it's just exhausting seeing people pestering mod authors for an update when all that is required is as you say, slapping a 1.6 in the about file.

@Kasa ill try to update my mods as fast as i got the time, i hope most of them is just to slap 1.6 label on them like this one xd

Before anyone asks, this patch works 100% a-ok in 1.6.

Which I mean... it's a patch removing the default fungus despised precept.

Unless Rimworld does something specifically with ideology that changes the def of it, this mod should always be compatible with future updates ya?

I feel like "You either love em or hate em" is what was going through Tynan's mind when making mushrooms either hated or loved, no in-between, no compromises. That's crazy though, idc either way for mushrooms. No hate, no love and I eat them with mostly intense indifference, unless they're cheese stuffed shrooms *Homer drooling noises*, seems wild to me to hate this much on something you don't have to interact with in reality at all. Even if they have an allergy to it.

Thanks. Been able to add it mid-save and delete the forced precept. Which makes no sense for immersion and means a valuable food source throughout human history is unavailable to non-tunnelers.

@The QX so far as i concerned it dosent matter. This mod works with ideology, and not with every type of shroom, so as far as it disables forced "Hate mushroom" percept in Ideology screen - it works

where I should put this in the mod list? under ideolegy or under regrowth since it adds a new mushroom variant too

Ahh, what started as some centuries old meme comments turned into a full blown conversation and vent about mushrooms. I love it.

Allow me to contribute a mushroom fact:
- Did y'all know that as long as you don't burn them, mushrooms are basically impossible to overcook? They owe this to their uniquely plant and meat like cellular structure, which is highly resistant to temperature changes. Add them to any dish! Don't like the texture? Just chop them up smaller. Finely chopped or grated or ground (if you are lazy with your dry mushrooms, like me) mushrooms will improve almost any dish you add them to. - Unless you're allergic. Sorry Rince. But also thank you, for this delectable mod!

Special side-note, Nutrifungus is not the only edible fungus in vanilla! Sure, it's the only one you can intentionally grow, but caves are often populated with native edible fungi. Equipped with this knowledge and mod, your mountainous starts will be a little easier - and tastier!

@Commander Link, i fear the smell, texture and taste of mushrooms. My genetic condition is makes mushrooms work like milk for lactose intolerant people but a bit worse. So i really hate to even being in the same room with mushroom meals. Also my grandpa almost died once when he was drunk and his friends pranked him with a bowl of something with shrooms, but he managed to throw it up. I never want to expirience full stomach of shrooms. It's my cryptonite. But i want my pawns be real and eat the shit as normal people do. I refuse to understand how you can get mood debuff from food that dosent make intoxicated in any way

A whole bowl of plain potatoes sound good. A whole bowl of plain rice is served in a lot of asian countries. A whole bowl of plain mushrooms? War crime.

@For the Jerusalem honestly eating a whole bowl of just plain potatoes/rice is kind of the same though. But to be more specific how mushrooms are hated is like how insect meat is hated. Even if there is a single stalk in my meal pawns instantly think its like some doggy doo doo food.

I feel like the default should be a negative thought if you eat a meal that is mostly mushroom. Because everyone who says "oh yeah i will just eat a mushroom without anything" is a freak and should be put on a list.

Honestly its so weird that the game forces you to play tunneler if you want to have mushrooms as a form of food and not have a negative mood effect, so this mod is definitely helpful.

I agree on the cooking. I love broccoli, but when cooked wrong... well, let's just say I'm pretty sure it's a Crime Against Humanity mostly...

and, the Button/ Field is one I often don't like (texture and taste). But, a properly cooked portabelo... that's nice!

and, yeah. The mycelium are more akin to just a dense root-network. Although, the system they use would make them easier to be genetically altered for intelligence...

as for the meat part, the main reason it's more meaningful than the rat one is that fungi are sepeperated by an equal amount to taxonomically as plants, wereas taxonomically crows are farther away. So, look at the names, and it looks like fungi aren't closer related than plants!

not to mention some freaky evoloutionary events and u-turns...

Also, sauteed mushrooms are the BOMB.

I LOVE mushrooms, both as organisms AND to eat. I always hated that most people in "Rimworld", by default, hate fungi.

Mushrooms are actually quite nice but unfortunatly people cook with low quality mushrooms or ruin it by overcooking, the same problem with Brocolli which is decent when properly cooked (FIRM not mushy).

Most people seem to only ever buy young Agaricus bisporus (normally known as Button or Field). The mature version of Agaricus bisporus known as Portabello is much more flavourful.

Also as far as intelligence their level is pretty low, they're similar to intelligence as most plants.

@Radixerus No, mushrooms are not meat. Mushrooms bare little chemical resemblance to meat. They are more similar to us then plants, but that's like saying a rat is more similar to humans then a crow. Technically your correct but it's not exactly meaningful.

They're actually very different, the confusion comes from the fact they have umami, the which is what causes 'savoury' tastes.
You might as well call tomatoes meat as they have the exact same umami flavour.

@Radixerus i remember ben 10 episode where there was walking mushroom aliens. It was creepy, but i glad there is no sense of smell while you watch cartoons. I can smell shrooms like in 15 meters and then i run xddd

@Rince As someone who can eat mushrooms, your genetic condition is actually a blessing in disguise. Mushrooms are icky. They're like a plant, but instead of plant fibers they use meat. That's fucked up. And when you think about it, it just gets MORE fucked up. They're like a proto-animal. I literally can't tell you how much they concern me. Have you SEEN mycelium? That shit's as dense as the human brain. Mushrooms probably have actual thoughts. Not human level, but definitely complex. Could you imagine a mushroom trying to talk to you?
