This sends me into a crafting loop. My log won't publish, sorry.

I am experiencing the same issue as Turbolove and Dust. All cooking fails with this Mod enabled.
I'm also having a loop bug when I try to butcher anything
I can confirm that I am experiencing the exact same error as Skyline Odeum.
Dust 2024
Same problem, I can't even butcher animals with this mod. I won't say "I can't play without this mod", but it's nice to find a better use for bug meat after a huge raid. So I hope this problem gets fixed.
I believe having the same issue as Scorch where cooking just gets stuck in a crafting loop.

@Solarius Scorch - Would be appreciated.

Getting a weird bug: when Entomophagy is active, it breaks the cooking process - you get your ingredients back instead of the meal, so the pawn gets stuck cooking the same thing infinitely.
I can try to provide the log, if it helps.

My last two colonies, insect simple meals wont stack, and dont count towards 'simple meals' for purposes of a 'do until you have X' bill order...which means the floor is very quickly covered in single, simple insect meals. Has anyone had a similar experience, or does this sound like a problem you're familiar with? I love this mod, but all of a sudden, it's extremely painful to actually use it.

Thank you very much for updating this! One of the very few mods in my old playlist at this point that I had to do without. To be the devil's advocate (while still fully supporting the mod and its message), there are two bits of headcanon that I've developed since to explain the gameplay balance of vanilla:
- Rimworld's sources of insect meat are not natural insects, but genetically engineered bioweapons. Might make sense for their meat to be especially foul-tasting, if not outright harmful
- Rimworld's sources of at least plant food had the benefit of endless past genetic tinkering for improvement of all stats, taste included. The pawns seem to be much more picky than us modern humans - they even consider mushrooms to be disgusting, while TBH they're one of the tastier things one could eat today. Maybe their baseline standard for what is really tasty comes from eating super-apples and super-potatoes?

That said again, great mod, fully endorse and will be using!

@Gloomy Onryō - It's not required. Only if you want what VCE gives. Same goes for the Processor, only if you want the Hotel/Motel insect meat generator.
Charlotte Wiltshire 2023
is vanilla cooking expanded REQUIRED or just for the additional things?

Or just don't eat bugs, don't let the rich elite bully you into thinking that it actually matters for enviroment while they throw away lots of food and fly on their private jets.

It's important to note that while standardized feed might become prevalent if bugs gain popularity as food, it's not the only way insects could be raised. There could still be smaller-scale operations or individuals who choose to raise insects using different feeding methods. However, as the industry grows, standardized feed is likely to become a common approach for large-scale production to meet the demands of a broader market.
Iron Cheferu  [
Standardized feed would serve a few important purposes. Firstly, it would enable companies to mass-produce bugs more efficiently. By creating a feed formula that meets the nutritional requirements of insects, companies can ensure that the bugs are healthy and grow at an optimal rate.

Secondly, standardized feed would help maintain a consistent taste and texture of the bugs. Just like the taste of beef or chicken can vary depending on the animal's diet, the feed given to bugs could influence their flavor and texture. By using standardized feed, companies can control these factors and provide a consistent product to consumers.

Furthermore, standardized feed would likely undergo rigorous quality control measures. This would involve testing the feed for safety and nutritional content, ensuring that it meets industry standards and regulations. By implementing quality control procedures, companies can provide consumers with confidence in the safety and quality of the bugs they consume.
Iron Cheferu  [
@OptimusPrimodial

tl;dc: Once bugs become widely accepted, standardization. Just like everything else.

Imagine a scenario where bugs become widely accepted and popular as a food source. As more people start consuming insects, the demand for edible bugs would increase. In response to this growing demand, companies would likely step in to meet the market needs efficiently.

One way companies would address this demand is by developing standardized feed for bugs. Similar to how we have standardized feed for livestock like cattle or poultry, insects could also be raised on specific diets that provide them with the necessary nutrients and ensure consistent quality.
oooooo I like this. Thanks for the mod!
The issue I have with bugs is that unlike a normal farm animal you can't choose to discard organs which would make you sick, they're too small you have to cook and eat the entire bug. This means you can't feed your bugs any rotten or inedible foods rather you must feed them the same food you could be feeding chickens.
The protein per input for chicks isn't much worse than bugs and chickens produce droppings you can use as fertiliser and they control pests while roaming your property. Bugs have to be grown in an enclosed facility where they shit in the same tub they eat and live in. This means you need a more expensive and energy intensive facility to filter out your bug waste and prevent disease.

@For the Jerusalem - Not all bugs are created equal. There are some that are more nutritional per gram than your typical everyday farm animals ( chicken, beef, pork, lamb ). Just depends.

@Dr. Quackers M.D. - Just googled bug eating facts, found a poster for the lols and fun.
If it sparks a debate. Feel free to do so.
