Thanks! Wow! I was just thinking of making a huge ugly mining ship. Thanks!

@Mxxpower: I started this one before you could attach drills to large ships. and yes in survival. i switched 2 or 3 times zu creative to test some concepts cause i was unsure. but builded them after testing in survival

Nice! I went a different route and put drills on a huge ship. You really built that insurvival mode?

Hehe i like the features from the last update. Be patient there's some eE coming to the HUMV. Till now tested it and got round about 400K of ore within 30 seconds. So you will run out of asteroids. :D

At the moment I'm thinking about joining the crane with the main ship by splitting a big rotor with a drill an than attach the small (hidden) rotor part to it. no more energy-problems. but then you have to turn off all thrusters an the last arm via the console or everything will be ripped appart when moving the ship. Also I have to take care of the rotor offset since i experienced some explosions when loading the world.

Btw. for the connectors at the moment i use a piston before the side-connectors for better docking. fortunatly i left enough room so I only had to make little improvements

@ Thog: Yes energy and stabilisation was a big problem with the arm. At the beginning i had a small reactor on each part. Luckily rotors now transfer energy.

I got it a little bit more stable by using gyroscopes to move the center of mass near the beginning of each arm-part. Also keeping holes in the arm helped. using artificial mass at the arm parts is no wise idea. at least when using more than one.

Really excellent design. Simple, functional, and addresses many of the problems I had when I made a similar jointed arm mining rig ages ago. Chiefly, the difficulties I had with energy traversing the arm length and destabilizing the structure, and safely stowing the arm for transit. Fine work all around! :)

Wow, That is one hell of a survival creation. Mine are much simpler. That crane is pretty damn awesome.
