I would be far more inclined to check the mod out if it had more images on the page to help me determine what it actually was. Videos are great for this too.
When i browse the workshop and am unsure to what degree a mod will impact my playthrough, i usually forego it in favor of a combination i have a good idea about

This is an awesome mod. I've been using it for a bit now. The only troopers I've recruited are the storm trooper and the shock trooper. Haven't got the other ones, but I'm sure I'll get them in time.

Take a colony deed and one of the symbols crafted at this mod's crafting station then place them both of them in the same room with a light and a door. The respective tenant should move in depending on which symbol you chose. Do enough quests for them and they might turn into their respective crew members.
