I believe there is a mod that changes meal names depending on the ingredients used, maybe the same system can be used to tag certain ingredients as color groups

- Colorable for traders and debug menu. Haven't figured out how to apply color when crafting.

So there has to be some system for stackable items with multiple color variations
an alternative could maybe be the meal texture system that came somewhen in 1.3, where meat and veggie meals have different textures. Maybe you can assign custom filters to patch some well known plant mods into color categories manually, but i've not tested that idea.
