I don't know. I know they shouldn't conflict, but I don't know how exactly melee aiming works, and I can't remember if I've used custom code for the primary attack which would make it not work. You're welcome to check it out though and tell people whether it works or not.

I can't seem to attack with the swords. Do you have any clue what could be causing this? I have the froge installed if that helps.

hi,i think the shutdown always release the first alt attack again and again if you empty energy by using first attack, thats a strange bug

As FU goes, you can't upgrade weapons from this mod, neither using the interface from the tricorder nor through ancient essence

that's weird, i think they had proper tier in testing. I'll see what you can do, in the meanwhile you can do /spawnitem loib_energyblade 1 '{"level":6}', which spawns a level 6 blade (obviously change 6 for whatever)

I'll be real, test FU yourselves, my pc barely handles Starbound without any mods, let alone with a gigabyte-big expansion. All i'll say is I didn't make it intentionally incompatible, and I tried making this mod dependent on some vanilla weapon ability scripts that FU might change, but as long as they didn't modify a melee ability script into a monster behavior script it's probably fine. TL;DR it shouldn't crash, but I don't expect the alt abilities to work as intended.

Not 100% sure on that, but it shouldn't cause problems, however the energy blades won't have a custom manufacturer either.

As for aimable patches - yeah, Ribs is right, it's not that hard if you know a bit of JSON; I'm not gonna make my own aimable patch as it clashes with my view of the mod, but anyone else is welcome to, as it really is just changing all the "allowRotate" values from false to true.

I've already made one of the combos (specifically combo 4; summon it by doing /spawnitem loib_energyblade 1 '{"primaryAbilityType":"loib_energycombo4"}' in admin mode) semi-aimable in places where it makes sense to be aimable (the stab animations in particular); I'm not planning on making every step of every combo aimable as i'm trying to keep my combos somewhat realistic, and arms just can't really move well in extreme up/down scenarios. I'm aware that my realism approach is quite futile in a game where you consume energy to fire real bullets from a gun, but that's my mod and my choice.

I also understand that swords aren't good for hitting enemies above or below, and that's why I made my alt abilities aimable (as much as they can be) - you have a lot more control over where you can strike with both flip slash and flying slash. Closest I'll go to fully aimable combos is maaaybe in the future making an expansion that adds more energy weapons such as shortswords.

Modders don't owe you anything. If you find something that's not to your liking, you should do it yourself honestly.

There should be plenty of guides to edit weapons, considering how making stuff aimable is simply changing "allowRotate" from false to true.

Is it out of the question for these all to be aimable? It's obscenely unfair for melee weapons to be unable to hit things immediately above/below them sometimes when guns can do that without issue.

@eh1256890, released the patch mod. although be warned, i'm not sure if there was a better way but i basically forced compatibility with energy blades at the cost of potentially causing incompatibility with other modded weapons (specifically those that use a custom buildscript). it shouldn't be able to cause problems with vanilla or really simple modded weapons, but if there are any other mods with custom random generation scripts like mine, it might prevent them from working with the station. hopefully those are few and far between

i've did a bit of testing, and without a minor modification it doesn't work. however, once i applied the modification, it works pretty well aside from the fact that the blade's energy color is dictated by the handle (so changing the blade only visually changes it's shape). i'm not yet sure how to fix it, as i don't seem to have any mutual contacts with the creator, but if that doesn't bother you i can release a patch right now

@A-Vladimir I balanced them as much as I could; not sure how well, but I tried. at least the combos deal similar damage to regular rare broadswords, minus the status effects, but it's compensated by alt abilities.
