@fafnir Understandable. I appreciate the response! I switched to the Hoarder's Inventory mod; it keeps weapons and ammo together and is more in line with GiC's intended scarcity of resources.

@kenanthebarbarian GIC was genuinely the worst update to do, it more than doubled the size of the patch file. New updates with new weapons with new categories will not be fixed unless I go back into working on it. I haven't played Starbound in months and I don't use GIC myself so... I don't feel particularly motivated to do it again.

@kenanthebarbarian Personally I think it makes a tad bit more sense to have ammo "live" in the mech part tab or the component tab (Mech due to it being sparsely populated in the first place and components/materials since that's what bullets are, mostly)

Thank you for updating for GiC. I might suggest revising the categories so that all weapons and ammunition go in the weapons tab. As it stands, some guns go under the weapons tab, some under the general tab, and all ammunition stays in the general tab. GiC guns pull ammunition from left to right in the inventory, so it's more difficult to keep track of ammo supply having the guns in one tab and ammo in another.

You're awesome, Silver. I wish more mod makers knew that you could do that (partially just to make my life easier I guess).

Betabound is already compatible with bk3k's inventory mod since it only uses vanilla categories and uses the subtitle label to make it look like it has custom ones

Updated with GIC categories. I might look at Betabound and Arcana later. I do use Arcana, but I haven't looked at what is exactly new to it or anything.

So I've gotten back on Starbound for the first time in months and to everyone who requested GIC: Good Goodness Why Did You Do This To Me? There's over 70 unique category entries for melee weapons and shields alone. It's either getting scrapped or taking a long, long time.

Almost went to complain about it not working, but it's just that mod didn't update even after I relaunched both steam and the game, had to re-subscribe to the mod.

I should have patched the items from Corporate Expansion and Knightfall helmet now, for Ark_4ngel and Molnyfio.

Project Knightfall - Mightframe "Terminator" helmet doesn't go into armor tab.

I've noticed that the light and heavy machine guns, from Corporate Expansion, don't seem to like going in the equipment tab. Could you patch that mod too if you have the time

Added the categories in starforge 1.1 that I could find that would cause issues.

If you can tell me what mod(s) you have issues with of course you can always pass along the name of the mod and I'll add 'em to this patch. I should be able to update this with new starforge categories tonight though.

There's only one weapon from The Starforge 1.1 that doesn't display in the correct category:

Are you talking about the custom categories? Those have since been subtitled, with the actual category hidden.

tldr: i copy/pasted the weapon categories from chaos weapons and put them in a list and put that in a player.config.patch file to tell the game they go in "armory bag" and not "main bag"

@Prodigy - This doesn't actually do anything but take the weapon categories (which I imagine is missing a few now) and put them into the "armory bag" category for the BK3K inventory mod. It doesn't patch the actual items from Chaos Weapons in any way.

For items that lack category data from other mods, it simply adds .patch files that specify a vanilla category onto the weapon so that it goes into the right bag.

Pardon, I saw that Chaos Weapons is included in the list. I am the dev of CW so I am curious on what it does to patch it.

I haven't tested it or looked at the internal code of Carlucci's but if the code is similar enough then it should work.

Would this be safe to use for the Carlucci Inventory Mod as well?

@Ciel I put the patch through the linter (code checker) and didn't find any errors, and it works on my environment, so could you please send me the starbound.log over a pastebin or something?

I got error exception in client main-loop (JSon exception) no such key in Json::get("armory bag")

Do you have a Ko-Fi or something similar? I just passed the 1,000 mods installed threshold, and as you can imagine, that comes with a significant number of custom weapon types. I've done my best to track down as many as possible in the hopes of getting them patched, but I'd feel bad asking you to do more work for me.

TL;DR: Is there somewhere I can throw money at your face so I feel less bad about asking you to patch more weapons?

Should be fixed now. I just added a new set of entries to the patch for "Shooter".
